Xabi Alonso has been told when he will be sacked by Real Madrid, with a seismic change at the Santiago Bernabeu looming.

Sensational reports have indicated that Alonso has left the dressing room split since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

The former Spain midfielder enjoyed enormous success with the Bundesliga club but has been unable to replicate that with Los Blancos. Although his side lead La Liga, Alonso’s disciplinarian approach compared to former boss Carlo Ancelotti has left much of the squad disenchanted with his management.

A run of three matches without a win has heightened tension around the club and leaves the manager in very real danger of losing his job.

Vinicius Junior has gone so far as to tell president Florentino Perez that he will not sign a new contract while Alonso is in charge.

Xabi Alonso will be sacked after Olympiacos match, claims expert

Even if Real Madrid beat Olympiacos in the Champions League on Wednesday, the coach is on borrowed time.

“The decision regarding Alonso's future has already been made,” Real Madrid expert Roberto Gomez told Radio Marca.

“Alonso’s fate is on the line against Olympiacos… but not because of the result – rather because of the impression he leaves.”

The message is clear, then. The expectation is that Alonso will lead Real Madrid, but even in the case of a victory, he could be gone by the time Los Blancos travel to Girona on Sunday.

Vini Jr a model of professionalism

Gomez expressed disgust at claims that the likes of Federico Valverde and Vini Jr failed to come up to the manager’s standards with regards their attitudes.

“I’m ashamed of the witch-hunt that’s begun against the Real Madrid players,” he said.

“How are players like Valverde or Vinicius going to undermine him? They are role models.”

Quite how Gomez’s analysis stands up against Vini Jr’s strop in El Clasico is unclear, but it certainly seems that the Brazilian has won his war with Alonso and will get his wish for the 44-year-old to leave the club sooner rather than later.
