Robert Lewandowski's wife Anna has admitted to being in the dark about the striker's protracted transfer to Barcelona from Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski has been trying to force a move away from the record German champions for much of the summer, first telling journalists whilst on international duty with Poland that: "My era at Bayern is over. I don't see any possibility to continue playing for this club anymore."

Barcelona are his desired destination, but with the Catalan giants only beginning to emerge from their recent financial dire straits, the clubs have struggled to agree on a transfer fee.

Lewandowski even returned to pre-season training with Bayern on Wednesday, although he put in a listless performance, at one point refusing to partake in a press-ups punishment after finding himself on the losing side in a practice match.

When asked on Instagram whether the Lewandowski family would be moving to Barcelona, former Karateka Anna replied: "I would like to know that too."

This implies that Lewandowski himself is also in the dark. Lewy regularly features in his wife's fitness videos and her dietary advice is one of the reasons he continues to defy Father Time with his incredible goal-record.

Lewandowski scored 50 goals in just 46 games in all competitions for Bayern last season and has a barely fathomable all-time record of 344 goals and 72 assists in 375 appearances in all competitions with the club.

Bayern are understood to be demanding an upfront €50 million for the 33-year-old, with the club cynically saying in recent weeks that they weren't convinced Barca would exist as an ongoing entity should they agree to staggered payments.

Barca have agreed a fee of up to €75m to sign Brazil winger Raphinha from Leeds in recent days, so a deal for Lewandowski is likely only a matter of time.
