The football agency which represents Ronald Koeman, Wasserman Netherlands, has published a tweet appearing to criticise Barcelona for how they are treating the current head coach of the Blaugrana.

Following the tenure of Quique Setien which saw Barca fail to win a trophy for the first time in 12 years in the 2019/20 campaign, the Dutchman was brought in to steady the ship at Camp Nou last summer.

Barcelona may have won the Copa del Rey in 2020/21, but the season has undoubtedly been a failure again as they finished third in La Liga and were eliminated at the round of 16 stage in the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain.

The campaign has also had the looming cloud of Lionel Messi’s potential exit, as the Argentine is out of contract next month when he will be available to leave for free.

Due to Koeman’s performance and the performance of the team as a whole, the Dutchman’s future has been called into question, with former player Xavi reportedly being lined up as his replacement.

The head coach had a meeting with the club last week which allegedly went well, while president Joan Laporta has promised a decision regarding Koeman’s future potentially next week.

Though not confirmed, Laporta is apparently sounding out other potential head coaches before committing to Koeman.

What did the tweet say?

That is clearly the opinion of Wasserman, who have likened the situation to offering to marry someone – but only if someone better can’t be found first.

The company’s tweet read:

“Imagine: I want to marry you, but I have doubts. Give me two weeks to find a better partner… If I can’t find the right person, we will get married anyway!”

The social media post probably wont go down too well within the corridors of the Camp Nou, but it is unlikely to have a massive bearing on Koeman’s future, whether or not Laporta decides to fire the former Everton boss.

During a press conference on Friday, Laporta alluded to an alleged anxiety attack for Koeman.

But, Wasserman quickly played this down too.
