Tom Weber is a multilingual sports writer who specialises in European football as part of his freelance work for FootballTransfers.
After taking his first tentative steps in writing by covering the three divisions of the English Football League for Counter, Tom launched his blog, Football, Soccer and Everything in Between, where he explored a diverse spectrum of topics, ranging from German and Russian men's and women's football to the Asian game and the lower leagues of American soccer.
A lover of history and all things obscure, Tom's later work saw him uncover historical topics that had been forgotten by time and overlooked by mainstream sports scholarship. Tom has written extensively about workers' football in Europe, unearthing the history of the little-known anti-fascist World Cups of the 1930s - launched in response to FIFA's tournament in Mussolini's Italy - and football in Imperial Germany's colonies, with the latter aimed to serve as a basis for further historiographic research.
An expert on German football and fluent in German and English, as well as boasting basic Russian skills, Tom's work has been published, both digitally and in print, by publications such as The Sideliner, Halb Vier and Breaking the Lines.
