Man Utd tell Mount deal is ready - Romano

Manchester United have indicated to Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount that they intend to sign him, Fabrizio Romano says. A deal with the England star is thought to be well advanced but United are having trouble closing out a move because they have yet to lodge a bid with the Blues.

The slow progress of the takeover has been impeding the deal, preventing Erik ten Hag’s club from launching a bid.

Maguire to be pushed out

Man Utd are ready to increase their efforts to sell Harry Maguire this summer, the Mirror reports, with the England international set to be offloaded to make way for Napoli centre-back Min-jae Kim.

FootballTransfers has reported that Maguire has accepted that he needs to leave the club for the good of his career.

United will want to hasten his exit, meanwhile. With Ten Hag still in the dark over his transfer budget and Kim’s release clause only able to be triggered at the beginning of July, Maguire’s exit would help facilitate a move for the South Korea international.

Kim transfer talks have stalled

According to FootMercato, Man Utd’s progress on signing Napoli defender Kim has stalled. It reports that little progress has been made in recent weeks, opening the door to Newcastle making a hijack move.

PSG are interested in Kim but the player wants to move to the Premier League while Chelsea also want the centre-back, though he is not willing to complete a deal with the Stamford Bridge side, seemingly demanding Champions League football.

Takeover uncertainty rolls on

The uncertainty over the Manchester United takeover rolls on. While The Times reports that both Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are set to discover this week if either will be given exclusivity status to complete a deal, Ben Jacobs indicates that the Glazers have no plans to put either in that position. CBS Sports’ Jacobs states that both groups are deep in talks and ready to complete a deal.
