Jadon Sancho takes Hojlund with him to Juventus?
Juventus have enquired about the possibility of signing Rasmus Hojlund during the ongoing negotiations for Jadon Sancho.
The Bianconeri are in advancing talks to sign Sancho and the Italian media are confident that the deal will be wrapped in the next week or so.
During these negotiations, Graeme Bailey reports that Juventus general manager Damien Comolli enquired about the possibility of signing Hojlund.
Juventus’ need to sign a new striker and their primary target is PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani, who was on loan in Turin for the second half of the season.
But the Bianconeri have been struggling to agree a new deal with PSG and have begun to tentatively line up alternative targets such as Hojlund.
Hojlund to Juventus?
Bailey says that United would be prepared to accept a bid of around €37 million for Hojlund, who is open to a return to Italy.
United hope to sell Hojlund and Sancho, Bailey says, in order to raise money for a new striker.
Hojlund has been put up for sale by Manchester United after a second successive disastrous season at the club.
When asked about the possibility of leaving Man Utd this summer last month, Hojlund vowed to stay.
“I have a contract until 2030, so I expect to play for Manchester United," Hojlund said after Denmark's 2-1 friendly win over Northern Ireland.
Hojlund is no longer in manager Ruben Amorim's plans for the coming season.
Man Utd signed Hojlund in the summer of 2023 from Atalanta for €75 million plus €10m in add-ons.
The 22-year-old has struggled badly, failing to score a single Premier League goal before Christmas in his first season.
Despite picking up in the second half of the campaign, he was a disaster in his second season.
Hojlund scored just four Premier League goals all season and United have now given up on the striker.
Ruben Amorim has made the signing of a top-class number nine one of his priorities for the summer transfer window.
United need to sell Hojlund first to raise funds for the move.
Hojlund exploded in the first half of 2023 at Atalanta as one of the most exciting young talents in European football.
He scored 15 goals in the calendar year for club and country prior to his move to Man Utd.
However, he has failed badly to fulfil his potential at United.
