Xavi Simons makes his choice between Chelsea & Man City
Man City have entered the race to sign Xavi Simons, but the Leipzig star still favours a move to Chelsea.
Chelsea have been negotiating a deal for Simons for much of the summer and, until last week, it had seemed certain the Dutchman would be moving to Stamford Bridge.
However, the transfer has still not been officially completed and some doubts have started to creep in from some journalists over whether Chelsea end up pulling out.
Amidst the confusion, it was reported on Monday that Man City have entered the race for Simons.
Simons to Chelsea or Man City?
Sacha Tavolieri posted on X: “EXCLUSIVE: Manchester City enters the race for Xavi Simons!
“With the likely departure of Savinho, the Citizens have reestablished contact with super agent Ali Barat in an attempt to lure Xavi away from Chelsea.
“On Chelsea side, talks are still on. Nothing changes. Ongoing discussions and mutual interest to finalise a deal.”
Football London reports, though, that Xavi Simons has made it clear that a move to Chelsea is still his "priority".
The next days should give us a better picture of where Xavi Simons will play his football next season.
It has been reported that the transfer of Simons will cost in the region of €60-70 million.
Simons has already agreed personal terms on a long term contract with Chelsea.
Leipzig decided earlier this summer to sell their star man,.
Leipzig paid a fixed €50 million to sign Simons permanently from PSG in January.
