Fabrizio Romano confirms Chelsea CLOSE to completing €40m transfer
Renato Veiga is close to joining Atletico Madrid.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the Chelsea defender is pushing to complete his move to Atletico as soon as possible.
Romano says that talks between Atletico and Chelsea are ongoing and that Diego Simeone hopes to finalise the deal soon.
The Italian transfer journalist announced earlier this week that Veiga has already agreed personal terms with Atletico.
The Portugal international is set to leave the Blues after just one season, having joined from Swiss giants Basel for €14 million last summer.
After little game time in the first half of the season, he joined Juventus on loan for the second half of the campaign.
Veiga was excellent in Turin and helped Juventus qualify for the Champions League but the Italians were unable to make his move permanent.
The centre back is expected to be sold for a fee of around €40m, which represents a big profit for the Blues.
Keen to be a star for Portugal at the 2026 World Cup, Veiga wants to be a regular starter at centre-back rather than a bit-part left-back, which is where he featured for Chelsea.
