The Maignan deal collapsed while Borussia Dortmund rejected Chelsea's best offer for the English wideman.

But there could be some good news for Chelsea fans as Simon Phillips reports that the Blues have opened talks for Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers. And this deal could now be accelerated following the failure to sign Gittens.

Rogers to Chelesea?

Phillips reports that Chelsea have opened talks with Rogers' agents and are not scared off by Villa's asking price of just shy of €100 million.

Rogers was one of the most impressive players in the Premier League this past season, delivering 14 goals and 15 assists in all competitions.

FootballTransfers exclusively revealed last month that Rogers is a player whom Arsenal are also monitoring for a summer transfer.

Unai Emery’s side may be put under significant pressure to cash in on stars this summer due to their PSR position, particularly after they missed out on Champions League qualification.

Despite raising more than €100m from sales in January, Villa are understood to need a major sale before the June PSR deadline to avoid any sanctions, having spent over €200m on players last summer.

Villa are more likely to seek exits for players such as Ollie Watkins or Emi Martinez but they are aware that the interest remains strong in Rogers and could be forced to sell.
