Arsenal are keen to further strengthen their squad this summer as they look to continue their progression under Mikel Arteta ahead of the new season.

Article continues under the video

The Gunners have improved each campaign under the tenure of their former midfielder and that is partly due to their shrewd activity in the transfer market under him.

In the summer of 2023, Arsenal broke their transfer record to sign Declan Rice from West Ham for €116.6 million.

In addition, Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and David Raya (loan) also arrived during the same window as the Gunners spent big after missing out on the English top flight title.

The club haven't been shy in splashing the cash recently to try and fight the might of Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League, and with an injection of Champions League money, they are set to splurge on transfers this summer once again.

We exclusively detailed via Steve Kay that Arsenal are prepared to SMASH their transfer record this summer, with Arteta set to be backed heavily in the transfer market.

As always with such a big club, the Arsenal transfer rumour mill is in full swing, with Arteta keen to add to the talent he has already brought to the club.

United poised to poach Obi-Martin from Arsenal

Man Utd are reportedly on the cusp of signing 16-year-old striker Chido Obi-Martin.

The youngster is a product of the youth academy at Arsenal but turned down a new contract offer from the Gunners, allowing him to speak to other clubs.

The Mail reports that United could take advantage of the situation to bring him to Old Trafford.

Chelsea will NOT sign Ramsdale

No agreement for Nketiah

Marseille still want to sign Eddie Nketiah, but want a loan deal rather than a permanent transfer.

Arsenal are still looking to raise funds for further player acquisitions this summer and had hoped to make money from selling Nketiah, with an asking price of around £30 million.

A deal with Marseille looked likely, but there are doubts now as the French giants only want a loan. (Athletic)

Opening bid being prepared for Merino

Arsenal could take advantage of some contract issues at Real Sociedad to sign Mikel Merino and are in the process of preparing a bid for the player.

At the moment, Merino's contract in San Sebastian expires this summer and the club are desperate to keep him or at least avoid him leaving for free.

That means he's available for a discounted fee of £20 million, and the Gunners could pounce to add to their midfield ranks. (Mirror)

Arteta comments on Calafiori

Mikel Arteta was asked this morning about Riccardo Calafiori, but there are no fresh updates on the Bologna deal.

The Arsenal boss said: "No unfortunately not but obviously we know there are certain positions that we want to improve and give the squad better resources in terms of numbers where we are short but we will try our best but the main thing is to focus on falling in love with the players we have and make them better."

Chelsea keen on former Gunner Szczesny

Chelsea are looking at recruiting a new goalkeeper this summer and could turn to former Arsenal stopper Wojciech Szczesny.

The player is on high wages at Juventus and the club are keen to move him on for a small fee rather than see him leave for free in 12 months.

Football London reports that Chelsea view Szczesny as an ideal name to provide competition for Robert Sanchez.

PSG-Osimhen talks stall
