Liverpool have officially announced the signing of Saint-Etienne forward Djylian N'Guessan, who will formally join the club in January.

The 18-year-old has been linked with an Anfield switch for several weeks and the Reds have now confirmed that a pre-agreement has been reached for him to arrive at the club when the winter transfer window opens on 1 January.

N'Guessan secured a loan move to Stade Brestois on Transfer Deadline Day and it’s understood that he will remain with the Ligue 1 club for the duration of the 2026/27 campaign, despite his move to Liverpool in January.

The France U20 international will become a Liverpool player when the winter window opens, although he will stay at Brest until next summer, when he will finally be given the chance to make his mark at Anfield.

N'Guessan shone at the U17 European Championship last summer, scoring four goals, and while Chelsea were linked with a move following his eye-catching tournament, Liverpool have now won the race for his signature.

He has become the latest talented youngster to join Liverpool, following the signings of Lucca Brughmans, Armin Pecsi, Mor Talla N'Diaye, Ifeanyi Ndukwe and Samuel Martinez, with the Reds eager to improve their depth of teenagers.

N'Guessan scored one goal in 14 senior appearances for Saint-Etienne and he will now look to break into the starting XI at Brest, before becoming a Liverpool player next year.

Who did Liverpool sign and sell this summer?

In regards to first-team arrivals, Liverpool strengthened Andoni Iraola’s squad with the signings of Bradley Barcola, Victor Munoz, Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo (loan) before the summer transfer window slammed shut on Tuesday 1 September.

Munoz and Jacquet have already caught the eye during the first two games of the new Premier League season, while Barcola is expected to immediately improve their attack following his high-profile move from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Reds also sanctioned the sales of Curtis Jones and Stefan Bajcetic, with five players leaving on loan, including Harvey Elliott, who joined Valencia. Furthermore, Mohamed Salah, Andrew Robertson and Ibrahima Konate all departed on Bosman deals upon the expiration of their contracts.
