Arsenal told transfer target had no interest in listening to their summer offer

Arsenal target Nathaniel Brown says he refused to listen to other proposals once he knew Bayern Munich wanted to sign him.

Brown became one of the most expensive left-backs of all time when joining Bayern from Eintracht Frankfurt for €50million (£42.7m) in July.

Before sealing his move to Bayern, the Germany international was the subject of interest from Arsenal, according to The Athletic.

However, Brown says he instructed his agents to rebuff interest from other parties when he learned Bayern were serious about signing him.

In an interview with Bayern’s official club magazine 51, via SPORT1, he said: “Honestly, I didn't think that Bayern would even get in touch with me.

“And then it (the transfer) went so fast!

"When my agent told me about the interest, I said right away: I don't want to listen to anything else.

“I'm from Bavaria, I can stay in Germany, and I'm moving to the best team in the country - to one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“My family and friends are all big Bayern fans, too, so there was no doubt about it. It was immediately clear to me that I wanted to join Bayern.”

Brown is regarded as one of the best left-backs in Germany

Brown established himself as one of the best left-backs in the Bundesliga with Frankfurt, recording seven goals and 13 assists in 75 appearances.

He scored on his competitive debut for Bayern as they beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 to win the German Super Cup in August.

Brown has gone on to make five more appearances for Bayern, helping them achieve four wins and a draw across the Bundesliga and the German Cup.

He has also earned 10 caps for Germany and started their Nations League fixtures against the Netherlands and Greece in recent days.

Arsenal meanwhile signed another left-back in the summer transfer window, with Piero Hincapie turning his loan move from Bayer Leverkusen into a permanent transfer.
