Revealed: How Estevao is feeling at Chelsea as Barcelona monitor his situation

Estevao Willian and Xabi Alonso have not fallen out despite the lack of playing time that has been afforded to the Chelsea winger, according to BBC Sport.

Brazil international Estevao has found himself on the periphery at Stamford Bridge this season, with the forward yet to make a Premier League start.

The 19-year-old has received just 23 minutes of playing time in the league, though he started the League Cup wins over Luton Town and Leeds United.

Spanish publication SPORT reported on Sunday that Barcelona were monitoring the situation closely, having developed an interest in signing Estevao.

However, BBC Sport reporter Nizaar Kinsella says the relationship between Estevao and Chelsea manager Alonso has not broken down.

Both Chelsea and the representatives of Estevao insist there are no issues between the player and Alonso, according to Kinsella.

However, Estevao, who joined Chelsea from Brazilian side Palmeiras last summer, is hoping to play a bigger role following the international break.

The teenager has found opportunities hard to come by due to the scintillating form of Chelsea trio Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers.

“I think every coach has their own way of playing,” Estevao told reporters while on international duty with Brazil earlier this month.

“Of course, we work every day, I give my best every day and that's what I do. We have quality players at Chelsea, so what I do is focus on what I can control.

“I try to give my best in training, when I get an opportunity I try to give my best. It goes day after day.”

Estevao impressed in his debut season with Chelsea

Estevao was a revelation for Chelsea last season, registering eight goals and four assists in his first season in English football.

He has made two appearances for Brazil during the international break, starting the 1-1 draw with Australia on 18 September while he was a second-half substitute against the same opponent on Tuesday (29 September).

Estevao could feature for Brazil when they face India in their final friendly on Saturday before the attacker returns to Chelsea for the resumption of the Premier League.

The Blues, who are winless in three league games under Spaniard Alonso, entertain Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, 10 October.
