Man Utd Transfer News Today: 'Confidence' growing in Hall signing as star heads for exit
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Man Utd transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Diego Leon, Joshua Zirzkee and Lewis Hall.
Leon facing Man Utd exit
Diego Leon was signed from Cerro Porteno in a deal worth €4 million in 2025 and there were high hopes that the now-19-year-old star would ultimately be integrated into Man Utd’s first-team squad, but after 12 months in England, the once-capped Paraguay international has barely appeared on the radar.
With his route to the first team set to be barred by the arrival of another left-back, the player’s agent admits that it could be time for him to assess his options as the summer transfer window draws to a close.
“He’s in a growth phase, his body is handling the training load very well,” agent Renato Bittar told ABC Cardinal. “His future is still unclear, the club hasn’t asked us to let him go. We’ll see if anything comes up this week.”
Zirzkee closing in on exit
Manchester United are in advanced talks with Fiorentina over a move that would see Joshua Zirkzee leave on loan, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Fiorentina are believed to have made an offer which includes a €5million (£4.2m) loan fee and the option to make the move permanent next summer.
Fabio Grosso’s side are keen to strengthen their frontline as Moise Kean reportedly edges closer to joining Serie A counterparts Como in a package worth €40m (£34.2m).
Zirkzee is also wanted by Serie A giants Juventus but Gazzetta dello Sport understands they first want to free up space by offloading Jonathan David.
Man Utd eye ‘Baleba-style’ transfer for Hall
Manchester United are not giving up hope of signing top left-back target Lewis Hall and they are ‘confident’ that they can conduct a Carlos Baleba-style deal to sign him next summer from Newcastle.
However, reporter Ben Jacobs has claimed that, while a deal for Hall is ‘near impossible’ before Tuesday’s transfer deadline, United believe they have the player’s ‘buy-in’ to pursue a move for him next summer, as they did with Baleba last year before signing him this week.
“The signs from the Hall camp are he sees a very strong fit at Manchester United,” Jacobs told The United Stand. “So this is where Manchester United have got confidence, as they did with Carlos Baleba 12 months ago.
“A new deal doesn't mean not for sale,” he added. “My expectation is that Hall is either going to sign at Newcastle or push to leave. And if he signs, it still may be with the caveat that he can leave in 2027.”
Gore set for Luton loan
Man Utd youngster Dan Gore is set to join League One side Luton Town on loan for the season.
Gore won Rotherham’s Player of the Season award while on loan there last season and the 21-year-old has been targeted by Jack Wilshere for Luton’s League One promotion bid, according to reporter Nathan Salt.
The midfielder is under contract with United until 2028 and the club are pleased with landing spot as opportunity to develop under Wilshere, who played in the same position.
There is said to be confidence that Luton can win promotion this season and that Gore can play central role in the side, with the player’s situation set to be revisited next summer after the loan.
