Fabrizio Romano Transfer News: Hurzeler to Man Utd, Endrick truth, Sancho latest
Football news expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on several major transfer stories, including the latest on Fabian Hurzeler, Endrick and Jadon Sancho.
Lisandro Martinez latest
Lisandro Martinez has been heavily linked with a Manchester United exit in recent days, and Romano has provided a clear update on his situation at Old Trafford.
“Let me start with a very serious topic for Manchester United: the Lisandro Martinez situation,” Romano told his YouTube channel.
“Licha Martinez is one of the most experienced players in the dressing room, particularly in terms of international experience with Argentina and his experience at Man Utd. He is one of the most experienced figures in the dressing room.
“He spoke very strongly after the game against Atletico Madrid, which Man Utd lost. It was a very negative moment for the Red Devils. We know that Licha was very strong in his comments. He said that Michael Carrick was not backed enough during the summer transfer window. He expected more from the directors, and he believes it is not just about the players and the coach, but also about looking at other areas that need to change.
“Licha was very strong in his comments. Yesterday, we had the first statement, and today, we have a new statement from Lisandro Martinez. Why this statement? First of all, let's go behind the scenes.
“Licha apologised to Man Utd as a club. He spoke to the directors, he spoke to Jason Wilcox, and he spoke to Michael Carrick, who was also involved in this conversation. There was an exchange and a discussion. Lisandro apologised for the timing, and he apologised for some of the very strong words he used after the game.
“Then, regarding the underlying message, as I told you, Licha is not the only one who thinks that Man Utd had to do more during the summer transfer window.
“So, the underlying message remains the same. Lisandro is apologising for the way he expressed himself after a game during a difficult moment for Man Utd, but there was a discussion about the substance of what he said.”
Romano continued: “To give you more information, Man Utd have fined the Argentine defender.
“According to the information available tonight, Lisandro Martinez has been fined. We will follow the situation closely over the next few days, but he is expected to be available against Atletico United. He is expected to return to the squad as normal, without being suspended internally by Man Utd.
“The fine is considered to be the punishment for Licha. The internal discussion also helped to resolve all the issues.
“For Man Utd, the case is closed. Obviously, it is closed for now, and we have to understand the consequences because Licha's contract expires in the summer. Man Utd have a club option to extend his contract.
“So, let's see what is going to happen there. For sure, this is the kind of situation that will have an impact on the situation surrounding Lisandro, but we have to see what happens next in terms of future transfers and everything else.”
Fabian Hurzeler to replace Michael Carrick?
Michael Carrick has been heavily linked with a Man Utd exit amid their current form and Brighton & Hove Albion boss Fabian Hurzeler is reportedly among the contenders to replace him.
“First of all, Fabian Hurzeler is a very young and very talented coach who is doing a fantastic job this season at Brighton. Do not forget how young this guy is and how well he is doing,” Romano said.
“There have been many links regarding Fabian Hurzeler. Why are these links emerging? Because there is one specific person within the Man Utd leadership group, within the board, who really appreciates Fabian Hurzeler.
“So, there is one person bringing his name into the conversation when they discuss the managerial situation and talented managers. This is why his name is being mentioned in connection with Man Utd, because someone on the board is bringing him up.
“But let me make a few things clear. First of all, there have been no contacts. Secondly, there have been no direct talks. Thirdly, Man Utd are not negotiating with any other coach as things stand because the club are still backing and trusting Michael Carrick.
“Fourthly, and this is an important point, Fabian Hurzeler is not the only name being discussed. When there are internal conversations about managers and possible options, several names are mentioned.
“For example, as I already told you in a video, Man Utd know very well that Antonio Conte could be open to taking a job midway through the season. That is a big difference compared with previous years, when Antonio Conte did not want to take a job during the season.
“That is just one example. There are also coaches who could be available for a top job like Man Utd, such as Julian Nagelsmann and Eddie Howe. For sure, there would be several candidates.”
Jadon Sancho receives Getafe proposal
Jadon Sancho has been a free agent since leaving Man Utd this summer and he has now received a proposal from La Liga side Getafe.
“Jadon Sancho had some opportunities over the summer, but he wanted to wait. Now we are in mid-October, and Jadon Sancho is still a free agent,” Romano revealed.
“Sancho has an official proposal on the table, a bid from Getafe. The opportunity would be to play in Europe, in this case in Spain, in La Liga, with Getafe in Madrid. It is a beautiful place to be.
“Getafe are trying to sign Sancho after pursuing Dani Carvajal. They also want Jadon Sancho.
“There is a proposal from Getafe on the table. Let's see what is going to happen because Getafe are trying to bring Jadon Sancho to the club. That is an important piece of news.”
Jose Mourinho insists Endrick will stay at Real Madrid
Finally, Romano has confirmed that while several clubs are interested in signing Endrick, he will not leave Real Madrid in January.
“Jose Mourinho spoke in a very strong and clear way before the game against Roma and again after the game. This was even before Endrick scored his goal,” Romano said in his latest YouTube video. “Do not forget that, until the Roma game, Endrick had played only four minutes for Real Madrid. That was also due to his injury, of course, so it was not simply a technical decision.
“Endrick returned, but before the game, Mourinho said to forget about Endrick leaving on loan because he was staying at the club. Whoever wanted to sign Endrick would have to fight with him.
“Mourinho was very strong in his comments. After the game, he again said to forget about it, that Endrick was going nowhere and that he was staying at the club.
“This is Mourinho's feeling, but it is not just Mourinho's feeling. Florentino Perez, the Real Madrid directors and everyone at Real Madrid want Endrick to stay and succeed there.
“Endrick is very happy after scoring his goal against Roma. Endrick wants to play, of course. So, there are positive signs following what we saw against Roma, and he wants to continue playing.
“Several clubs are interested, including AC Milan in Italy and clubs in England, such as Aston Villa and Liverpool. Several clubs tried to sign him in the summer, so let's see what happens next.
“Liverpool made a move for Endrick in the final hours of the transfer window, but there has always been movement around the player. It has always been Real Madrid who have stopped that, both as a club and through their coach.
“Now Mourinho is saying again that Endrick is going nowhere.”
