The Reds will kick off their 2026-27 Premier League campaign with a trip to Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon and while his focus will now be on his opening competitive game as Liverpool manager, Iraola continues to have one eye on the transfer market.

The two-time Premier League champions have completed the signings of Jeremy Jacquet, Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo (loan) so far this summer, but additional arrivals are expected before the window slams shut, and Iraola has promised Liverpool fans that his side will be active over the next week-and-a-half.

“We'll definitely sign players, yes,” Iraola confirmed to Jamie Carragher in a new Sky Sports series called ‘Boss with Jamie Carragher.’

“I hope more than one,” he added. “The thing is, me as a coach selfishly, I want the players for the first day of pre-season, so everyone is ready to go, but also I understand how this works.

“Some days you have to wait until the end. The important picture is the one we have on the September 1 and I hope, because it's true that we are still quite thin, that we can have more help from here until the end of the market.”

Who could Liverpool sign before Transfer Deadline Day?

Paris Saint-Germain attacker Bradley Barcola is understood to be Liverpool’s top target for the remainder of the summer window, although the Frenchman’s price tag stands at over €150m and this is currently a major obstacle to overcome.

Fellow PSG forward Ibrahim Mbaye is also in talks over a possible move to Anfield, while the Reds have seen an opening bid worth just shy of €60m for Yankuba Minteh rejected by Brighton & Hove Albion.

Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton has been linked with a Liverpool switch too, however Pierre Sage has ruled out a sale before the window closes and, as a result, he looks set to stay at Selhurst Park.

Meanwhile, Reds winger Cody Gakpo could be set to leave the club amid significant interest from Tottenham Hotspur, who want to sign the Dutchman in addition to Manchester City attacking duo Omar Marmoush and Savinho.
