Liverpool’s search for new signings has led the Anfield club to launch a bid for a second PSG player, with negotiations for Bradley Barcola already well underway.

The Reds have targeted a move for France international Barcola, but PSG have so far been insistent that the Premier League side pay €170 million for the France winger, who wishes to leave for a more important role.

Now RMC Sport reports that Andoni Iraola’s side are also pursuing 18-year-old winger Ibrahim Mbaye to feature on the right.

Liverpool make Mbaye move: PSG’s demands revealed

Mbaye has been linked with a series of Premier League clubs this summer, having grown frustrated by the lack of first-team opportunities at Parc des Princes, where he has played 42 times, scoring four goals and laying on four more.

RMC reports: “Discussions between Liverpool and PSG are now expected to begin to find an agreement regarding the future of the Senegal winger. Alongside this project, the Anfield club continues to follow Bradley Barcola.”

Mbaye’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is €32.2m, but PSG have set a price of €40m for Liverpool to sign the winger.

Why Liverpool want Ibrahim Mbaye

Liverpool’s desire to sign Mbaye is being driven by their belief that he can become one of the leading wingers in the world.

He already has extensive first-team experience at the age of 18 and has featured on 15 occasions at international level for Senegal.

A fearless and creative player, he enjoys one-on-one situations and has the type of personality that allows him to embrace pressure.

RMC adds: “At Liverpool, its believed that the club’s environment can allow him to take the next step and fully realise his potential. This sentiment is shared by the player, who is reportedly very keen on the prospect of joining the Reds.”

What’s happening with Barcola?

If there appears to be some optimism that Liverpool’s move for Mbaye may have a positive outcome, there is no indication that the deal for Barcola is progressing, with reports from France stating that the two clubs are still far apart regarding a transfer fee.

Indeed, Liverpool already seem to be looking at the possibility of moving for ‘Plan B’ options in the case of the former Lyon winger. In particular, the Reds are linked with the possibility of signing Rayan from Bournemouth, although a release clause in the Brazilian’s contract does not come into effect until next summer, making that a difficult move to realise.

With several weeks still left before the transfer window closes, Barcola’s situation could still develop, with a move for Mbaye currently looking the stronger possibility as Liverpool seek to increase the attacking pool open to Iraola.
