Confirmed: Zubimendi deal a non-starter

FootballTransfers can confirm that Arsenal have absolutely no intention of entertaining the departure of Martin Zubimendi.

The Spain international was linked with a sensational move to Chelsea earlier this week, courtesy of the mutual appreciation between the player and new Blues manager Xabi Alonso.

The 27-year-old grew up idolising his fellow Basque, while Alonso wanted to sign him for Real Madrid last year. However, Zubimendi had already committed to joining Arsenal. Despite the strong connection between the midfielder and the Chelsea manager, a move is out of the question.

Chelsea open to Gusto exit

Chelsea are willing to consider the sale of Malo Gusto, according to RMC Sport.

The French full-back's long-term future at the club has been put under the microscope following the arrival of Marco Palestra, and previous reports suggested that he is open to leaving Chelsea.

It is now claimed that the Blues would be willing to consider bids in the region of €87 million. There is no shortage of interest in Gusto, but this asking price "is considered well above market value by many clubs."

Fresh Fernandez threat

Man City consider Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez their "dream" replacement for Rodri, as per Di Marzio.

The latter is once again the subject of intense transfer speculation. After previously being heavily linked with Real Madrid, Rodri is now being chased by Barcelona, and he has reportedly already greenlit a transfer.

City are reluctant to sell, but there seems to be growing confidence, at least in Spain, that Rodri will join Barcelona. Consequently, Enzo Maresca will need a replacement, and he is determined to reunite with his former Chelsea star Fernandez.

Thiago stance

Brentford have no intention of losing star striker Igor Thiago this summer, TEAMtalk writes.

The outlet claims that Chelsea, Man Utd and Tottenham have all registered their interest in the Brazil international following his breakout season in the Premier League last term. However, Brentford do not wish to sell.

In fact, "there are no circumstances under which the club would currently entertain offers," the report asserts. A potential move to Chelsea seems far-fetched anyway, given the number of striker options they currently have.
