The 2026 summer transfer window is well underway and a host of major deals have already been announced ahead of the new season, with the biggest clubs in the world spending huge sums of money to bolster their first-team squads.
Football finances have exploded over the last decade and a plethora of records have already been broken since the window opened in June.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through the 10 most expensive signings of the summer transfer window so far.

10. Johan Manzambi - €60m (Freiburg to Aston Villa)
After an impressive season at Freiburg, Johan Manzambi caught the eye for Switzerland at the World Cup and he looked destined to become Newcastle United’s first big marquee signing of the summer.
However, his proposed move to St James’ Park was hijacked by Aston Villa, who quickly agreed a €60m fee for the 20-year-old amid their pursuit of a suitable replacement for Chelsea-bound Morgan Rogers.
9. Maxence Lacroix - €60.7m (Crystal Palace to Chelsea)
Chelsea’s defensive frailties were a huge issue during the 2025-26 campaign and signing a new centre-back partner for Levi Colwill was identified as a priority for the summer window.
Following weeks of negotiations with Crystal Palace, they finally struck a €60.7m agreement to sign Maxence Lacroix and the France international was officially unveiled as a Chelsea player on 30 July.
8. Jeremy Jacquet - €63.6m (Rennes to Liverpool)
While they prioritised a move for Lacroix this summer, Chelsea were initially eager to land his compatriot Jeremy Jacquet during the winter window, but they were beaten to his signature by Liverpool.
Andoni Iraola’s side agreed a €63.6m deal with Rennes in February and the 21-year-old, who has replaced Ibrahima Konate, formally joined the Anfield outfit when the summer transfer window opened.
7. Crysencio Summerville - €64.5m (West Ham to Al-Hilal)
Crysencio Summerville was one of West Ham’s standout performers during the 2025-26 campaign and he attracted significant transfer interest from multiple top clubs following the Hammers’ relegation to the Championship.
AS Roma and Manchester United were both interested in signing the Netherlands winger, but Al-Hilal won the race for his signature after agreeing a €64.5m deal with West Ham.
6. Goncalo Ramos - €74m (PSG to AC Milan)
After spending the last two years as a rotation option at Paris Saint-Germain, Goncalo Ramos has become AC Milan’s all-time record signing following a €74m switch to San Siro.
The Portugal striker netted 45 goals in 131 games for PSG and he has linked up with compatriot Ruben Amorim in Serie A as he looks to nail down a consistent starting berth.
5. Anthony Gordon - €80m (Newcastle to Barcelona)
Despite having the option to sign loanee Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal for €30m, Barcelona rejected the chance to trigger their option-to-buy clause in favour of finalising a deal for fellow England winger Anthony Gordon.
The transfer was completed ahead of the 2026 World Cup and he has officially become seventh-most expensive Barcelona signing in history after scoring 39 goals in 152 Newcastle appearances.
4. Mateus Fernandes - €99m (West Ham to Tottenham)
Mateus Fernandes joined West Ham for an initial €44m following Southampton’s relegation in 2025 and, one year later, he has once again avoided the Championship by completing a move to Tottenham Hotspur for a whopping €99m.
The Portuguese midfielder was one of the standout signings in the Premier League last season and Spurs moved quickly to beat Man Utd to his signature ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
3. Sandro Tonali - €108m (Newcastle to Tottenham)
In addition to Fernandes, Spurs have also bolstered their midfield roster with the signing of Italy international Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United, with the 26-year-old arriving for a club-record fee of €108m.
Tonali was one of Newcastle’s most impressive performers during his stint at St James’ Park and Tottenham beat arch-rivals Arsenal to his signature this summer.
2. Elliot Anderson - €135m (Nottingham Forest to Man City)
Elliot Anderson briefly became the most expensive British player in history when he completed a €135m switch from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City, although his record has already been broken.
The England star established himself as one of the Premier League’s best midfielders last season and he is expected to replace the departed Bernardo Silva in Man City’s favoured starting XI this term.
1. Morgan Rogers - €138m (Aston Villa to Chelsea)
The most expensive signing of the summer window so far is Morgan Rogers, who has joined Chelsea from Aston Villa for a British record fee of €138m.
Arsenal were believed to be the frontrunners to secure his signature this summer, but Mikel Arteta’s side were unwilling to match Villa’s asking price and this allowed Chelsea to swoop with a club-record bid.
