The England U21 international joined David Moyes’ side on a short-term loan deal during the January transfer window and despite struggling for consistent game time, the Toffees have decided to bring him back to the club on a permanent basis.

George played just 210 Premier League minutes from a possible 1,170 after arriving at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but Moyes is understood to have been impressed by his performances and Everton have now reached a full agreement to sign him this summer, according to BBC Sport.

This has been confirmed by transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano, who posted on X: “Tyrique George to Everton, here we go! Deal sealed between all the parties including player side.

“£18m (€21m) fixed fee, £6m (€7m) add-ons and 15% sell-on clause for Chelsea. Long term deal for George. Chelsea maintain excellent relationship with Everton and with Tyrique.”

Everton did have the option to purchase George for roughly €29m due to a clause in their loan agreement, however they have renegotiated a lower initial transfer fee and he is set to be announced as their third summer signing, after Merlin Rohl and Hayden Hackney, shortly.

Who else will Chelsea sell this summer?

George will become the second first-team player to leave Chelsea on a permanent deal this summer, after Marc Cucurella, and he certainly won’t be the last.

Fellow academy graduate Trevoh Chalobah has been widely tipped to depart amid significant interest from Serie A sides Inter Milan and Como, while Axel Disasi and David Datro Fofana are set to be offloaded after loan spells away last season.

One of Nicolas Jackson or Liam Delap are likely to be sold on a permanent deal following the signing of Emmanuel Emegha from Strasbourg, and offers could well be considered for Alejandro Garnacho after a hugely disappointing debut campaign at Stamford Bridge.

Andrey Santos also isn’t untouchable and could be offloaded, especially if Granit Xhaka arrives from Sunderland, while Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo, Malo Gusto, Marc Guiu and Filip Jorgensen face uncertain futures too.

However, Enzo Fernandez could be set to stay after Real Madrid officially withdrew from contention to sign the Argentina midfielder this summer.
