Arsenal Transfer News Today: Successful hijack as Bradley Barcola greenlights move
All the latest Arsenal transfer news in one place, including updates on Bradley Barcola, Jeremy Monga and Enzo Fernandez.
Barcola open to transfer
PSG winger Bradley Barcola refused to rule out a summer transfer when speaking to the media about his future, which Fabrizio Romano believes is clear proof that the France international could be on the move soon.
Barcola is a key target for Liverpool, while Arsenal are also in the mix, though they are prioritising Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers. Reports have suggested that PSG do not want to sell, but Romano is convinced that Barcola could move at the right price.
"When he was asked about his future and what he plans to do during this summer's transfer window, Barcola replied that he is focused on the World Cup and does not know what will happen afterwards.
“If a player wants to stay and is completely certain about staying, they simply tell the media, 'I'm staying. I'm staying at Paris Saint-Germain. We've won everything for two years in a row. There is no reason to leave.' Barcola didn't say that.
"To sign Barcola, you still need a huge financial package. You still have to convince Paris Saint-Germain financially, but the player is open to leaving. That is the current reality."
Monga hijack done
Romano also reports that Man City have successfully wrapped up a deal for Leicester City winger Jeremy Monga.
Reports first emerged on Thursday that the Etihad club had strongly entered the race for the 16-year-old, who will leave Leicester this summer after their relegation to League One. He has turned down a professional contract at the King Power Stadium.
Monga initially chose Arsenal as his preferred destination, but the Gunners were unable to finalise a deal because they believed the finances involved to be unreasonable. This has allowed Man City to swoop in and hijack the signing of the teenage winger.
Arsenal monitor Fernandez
Arsenal and Man City are monitoring Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, Gianluigi Longari claims.
The Argentine has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid after growing frustrated with Chelsea's lack of competitiveness, but Los Blancos have denied having any intention of pursuing a deal for him in an official statement.
Fernandez now faces the awkward prospect of having to stay at Chelsea. However, Arsenal or Man City may yet offer the wantaway midfielder an escape route as they have begun "gathering information" on him.
Arsenal eye Konsa
Arsenal are interested in Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, as per The Telegraph.
Despite some wobbly performances at the World Cup, Mikel Arteta is understood to be an admirer of the versatile defender and has identified him as a potential replacement for Ben White.
The Birmingham club are thought to be demanding a fee in the region of €70m for the 28-year-old, which Arsenal are not willing to pay. Konsa has two years left on his contract at Villa Park.
