Brian Brobbey wanted

Man Utd are among the clubs said to be taking interest in Sunderland star Brian Brobbey this summer after his impressive performances at the 2026 World Cup so far.

Brobbey joined Sunderland last summer for €20 million and scored seven goals in his debut season in the Premier League before heading to the World Cup with the Netherlands, where he netted twice against Sweden.

Having enhanced his reputation on the global stage, TEAMtalk claim that Sunderland are now facing a ‘growing fight’ to keep hold of Brobbey, with the likes of Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Stuttgart said to be ‘closely monitoring’ the 24-year-old’s progress.

However, Premier League teams are also believed to be weighing up possible approaches, with Man Utd, Chelsea, Tottenham and Aston Villa all named as interested parties.

Mateus Fernandes terms ‘basically agreed’

Man Utd face significant competition from Arsenal, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Mateus Fernandes, but they are already close to finalising a contract agreement with the West Ham United midfielder.

That is according to transfer reporter Alex Crook, who told talkSPORT: “We know that Manchester United have basically got personal terms already agreed. Tottenham are now showing interest in Fernandes as well, they've been busy in the market so far.”

Spurs are also closing in on a deal for Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali, which could help Man Utd beat them to Fernandes’ signature.

Manuel Ugarte to be sold for a loss

Man Utd are ready to accept a loss on Manuel Ugarte in order to sell him on a permanent deal this summer, according to The Sun.

The Uruguay international fell down the pecking order following the interim appointment of Michael Carrick last season and the club are now eager to offload him in order to make room for their planned midfield signings.

Ugarte joined the Red Devils from PSG for €50m in 2024 and although the club would only need to sell him for €29.5m to avoid a loss, due to accounting rules, they are prepared to accept an even lower fee if that’s what it takes to ship him off.

Alex Scott enquiries

Man Utd have made enquiries over a possible summer deal for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, as confirmed by The Athletic.

The 22-year-old enjoyed an excellent campaign under Andoni Iraola last term and it’s understood that he is firmly on Man Utd’s transfer radar as a possible alternative to the aforementioned Fernandes.

However, Bournemouth want to tie Scott down to a new contract, which could include a release clause just shy of €90m.

Aurelien Tchouameni on Man Utd’s radar

Links with a move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni have died down in recent days, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that a move for the Frenchman could still take place.

“If Man Utd had the opportunity to choose the ideal replacement for Casemiro, internally the name mentioned most often would have been Aurelien Tchouameni,” he told his YouTube channel.

“He is viewed as the perfect defensive midfielder, with elite quality, top-level European experience and all the characteristics Man Utd are looking for. The interest is absolutely genuine.

“However, there are two major obstacles. The first is that Real Madrid have not opened the door to Tchouameni's departure.

“The second issue concerns salary. Tchouameni earns a significant wage at Real Madrid and matching those financial demands has not been part of Man Utd's plans.

“There is no doubt that Man Utd admire the player enormously. They consider him a perfect fit and appreciate him at the highest level. At the same time, it is important to be realistic. Any deal depends on Real Madrid's position regarding a possible exit, while salary expectations remain a significant factor.”
