Fabrizio Romano Transfer News: Rashford is back, Arsenal target, two Real Madrid signings
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has delivered his take on the latest headlines, including Marcus Rashford’s next move, Jose Mourinho completing two signings at Real Madrid, and Arsenal stepping up talks for a Premier League star.
Marcus Rashford officially leaves Barcelona as buy clause expires
Romano began by confirming that Marcus Rashford's loan spell at Barcelona has officially come to an end.
“From today, Marcus Rashford is no longer a Barcelona player,” Romano announced on his YouTube channel.
“The €30m buy option included in the agreement between Manchester United and Barcelona has expired and Barcelona never intended to activate it. This is not because Barcelona don't like the player. They remain interested in Rashford, but the financial conditions of the deal, both in terms of transfer fee and salary, created problems for Barcelona.
“Barcelona remain in conversations with Rashford's camp about the possibility of keeping him for one more season on loan. But Manchester United are not so keen on another loan. They want to explore different opportunities and also assess Rashford's future under Michael Carrick.
“Don't forget there is also a £40m release clause available to every club except Manchester City and Liverpool.”
Man Utd among clubs tracking Crescencio Summerville
West Ham winger Crescencio Summerville, who is attracting significant interest, is seen as a potential replacement for Rashford at Old Trafford.
“Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in Crescencio Summerville,” Romano confirmed. “He scored for the Netherlands at the World Cup and several clubs are following him closely.
“United have already been speaking with West Ham regarding Mateus Fernandes and during those conversations they also asked for information on Summerville.
“Paris Saint-Germain made a call last week to understand the situation too because they could add another winger if Bradley Barcola leaves.
“And I would also keep an eye on other Premier League clubs because there is strong interest around Summerville.”
Real Madrid continue transfer spree: Rudiger and Bernardo Silva sign
Real Madrid remain a major topic, with Romano highlighting the club's relentless activity in the market.
“Every day there seems to be a Real Madrid announcement or a Real Madrid here we go,” he said.
“We had Jose Mourinho as manager, Florentino Perez as president, Sami Khedira joining the coaching staff, and players like Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konate, Bernardo Silva and Marc Cucurella.
“Today there are two more updates.”
Romano confirmed that Antonio Rudiger's future has now been resolved.
“Antonio Rudiger has signed a new contract with Real Madrid until 2027,” Romano added. “Everything was agreed some time ago and now all the documents are completed.
“He has already spoken to Jose Mourinho and is ready to fight for his place in this new Real Madrid project.”
Another key update concerned Bernardo Silva's move to the Bernabeu.
“Bernardo Silva has officially signed his Real Madrid contract in the last 12 hours,” he said.
“After the verbal agreement and the here we go, all the documents have now been exchanged and completed.
“We are just waiting for the official announcement.
“Bernardo Silva is going to be a Real Madrid player.”
Nico Paz wants another season at Como
One player who may not be at Real Madrid next season is Nico Paz, who wants to remain in Serie A with Como rather than go back to the Bernabeu.
“Nico Paz wants to stay at Como for one more season,” Romano said. “He wants Champions League football, regular starts, around 50 games and the chance to be one of the key players in the team.
“This is not Nico Paz rejecting Real Madrid. It is simply a football decision because at Real Madrid there are so many players competing for places, and now Bernardo Silva has arrived too.
“The expectation remains that Nico Paz will not play for Real Madrid next season.”
However, Romano explained that negotiations are still required before anything becomes official.
“People are saying Nico Paz staying at Como is already decided, but that's not completely accurate,” he added.
“The player's desire is clear, but now the clubs have to reach an agreement.
“Real Madrid have a buy-back clause this summer and another buy-back clause next summer. They are discussing different solutions and different conditions. So there is still work to do between the clubs.”
Tottenham step up pursuit of Sandro Tonali
Romano also provided another update on Tottenham's growing interest in Sandro Tonali.
“Tottenham are in conversations with Sandro Tonali's camp,” he said.
“Tonali wants the move and I don't expect any problems regarding personal terms.
“The connection with Roberto De Zerbi is very important. They are both from Brescia and have a very good relationship.
“Soon Tottenham will contact Newcastle to begin club-to-club negotiations.
“The price will be the difficult part. I think Newcastle's initial request will be around €100m or maybe even more.
“But Tottenham are there and De Zerbi is pushing.”
Savinho remains a Tottenham target
Romano confirmed that Spurs are also continuing discussions over Manchester City winger Savinho.
“Savinho remains a strong option for Tottenham,” Romano added.
“There are ongoing conversations between Tottenham, Manchester City and the player's representatives.
“Savinho wanted the move a year ago and he is still interested now.
“With Roberto De Zerbi involved, the project is even more attractive.
“People ask every day why there is no breakthrough, but these deals take time.
“We are talking about big money, big contracts and important negotiations.”
Tottenham close in on Jan Paul van Hecke
Tottenham are close to completing a deal that will see Roberto De Zerbi revisit Brighton to capture a player.
“Tottenham are closing in on Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton,” Romano said.
“The deal was already agreed with the player and now the clubs have also reached an agreement.
“So Roberto De Zerbi is set to receive a new centre-back as Tottenham continue building for next season.”
Arsenal monitoring Alex Scott
The final major transfer topic concerned Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, who is a target for Arsenal.
“Alex Scott remains on Arsenal's shortlist,” Romano confirmed.
“Arsenal appreciate the player and there are ongoing conversations with his representatives and with Bournemouth.
“Bournemouth are trying very hard to keep him and are offering a new contract with a release clause.
“But Arsenal are considering him as one of their midfield options because they believe he is a very talented player.”
