Enzo Fernandez surprise

Real Madrid are not yet in talks to sign Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez and a summer move to the Bernabeu is far from guaranteed.

The Argentina international wants to join Los Blancos before the summer window closes on 1 September, but Chelsea have set their asking price at €140 million, and while he is on Real Madrid’s radar, negotiations haven’t yet begun.

This has been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, while Real Madrid sources have played down the likelihood of signing him, as reported by The Athletic.

Chelsea agree to sell Arthur Barratt

Chelsea have finalised a deal to sell 16-year-old academy talent Arthur Barratt, as per Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer expert posted on X: “Everton are set to sign Chelsea academy product Arthur Barratt, fee agreed for a permanent transfer.

“The 2009 born midfielder had interest from several other PL clubs, but Everton see him as an important investment in their strategy to secure young talents.”

Pep Chavarria offer

Chelsea have submitted an opening offer worth €9 million for Rayo Vallecano defender Pep Chavarria, according to reports in Spain.

Chelsea are expected to promote Jorrel Hato into a starting role as Marc Cucurella’s replacement next season, but they are keen to finalise a deal for Chavarria, who would then be the back-up option to the Dutchman.

Fabrizio Romano and The Athletic have confirmed that club-to-club talks are underway, with Chelsea keen to finalise a deal as soon as possible, while Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claim that an opening bid of €9m has been lodged by Xabi Alonso’s side.

It’s reported that Rayo Vallecano have rejected this offer, as they look to earn a higher fee for the left-back, but negotiations are expected to intensify over the coming days amid Chelsea’s pursuit of his signature.

Tyrique George sale talks

Chelsea are making progress in negotiations to sell Tyrique George to Everton in a €29million (£25m) deal, according to The Athletic.

The 20-year-old joined Everton on loan for the remainder of the 2025-26 season in February, with the deal including an option to make the move permanent for €29m (£25m).

However, according to The Athletic, while that mechanism has now expired, the two clubs are discussing a new, permanent arrangement.

It’s reported that a deal could be reached that would see Everton pay less up front to sign George, but with add-ons taking it close to the €29m figure Chelsea were hoping for.

Morgan Rogers price tag

Chelsea have suffered a blow to their hopes of signing Morgan Rogers after learning Aston Villa value the England star at a British record €150million (£130m), as per The Telegraph.

The Blues have identified Rogers as one of their top summer targets, but Villa do not want to sell him and they believe he is worth more than England team-mate Elliot Anderson ahead of his €134m (£116m) move to Manchester City from Nottingham Forest.

Unai Emery's side insist that Rogers holds a valuation that exceeds the €145m (£125m) fee Liverpool shelled out on Alexander Isak in a British record transfer last summer and they are mindful of the fact that Middlesbrough hold a 20 per cent sell-on clause.

Chelsea to make new Granit Xhaka bid

Chelsea are expected to submit a second offer for Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka, according to The Athletic.

Sunderland rejected the Blues’ opening bid of €9.3m (£8m) and have no intention of sanctioning a sale, but Chelsea are optimistic of finalising an agreement.

It’s understood that Xhaka is keen on the move as he looks to reunite with his former Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso.
