Arsenal Transfer News Today: Guimaraes contract decision as Arteta pushes for deal
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Arsenal transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Bruno Guimaraes and Dani Olmo.
Bruno Guimaraes open to new Newcastle contract
Bruno Guimaraes is interested in signing a new contract with Newcastle United despite receiving strong interest from Arsenal, according to The i Paper.
Newcastle have made it clear Guimaraes is not for sale after rejecting an approach from Arsenal, with Eddie Howe’s side keen to tie him down to fresh terms.
The same outlet claims Guimaraes is open to extending his four-and-a-half-year stay at St. James’ Park, even though his representatives are drumming up interest in his signature.
Guimaraes, who turns 29 in November, has just two years remaining on his deal, and a separate report from the Daily Mail claims he is not currently agitating for a move away.
Mikel Arteta wants Dani Olmo
Mikel Arteta is pushing Arsenal to sign Barcelona star Dani Olmo, as per a report from Fichajes.
The Spain international has been a key player for Barca since his arrival from RB Leipzig, but the club could reportedly consider a sale if an offer of at least €60m is received.
Chelsea are also interested in signing Olmo, although Arsenal are currently leading the race for his signature, largely thanks to the influence of Arteta, who is reportedly keen to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.
Julian Alvarez confirms Barcelona wish
Arsenal-linked Julian Alvarez has reiterated his desire to join Barcelona after Atletico Madrid failed with a fresh attempt to convince him to stay, according to reports in Spain.
After Argentina’s 2-0 win over Austria at the World Cup on Monday, Alvarez said: “I spoke with the people at [Atletico] I needed to speak with, and the best thing for everyone is a transfer. I want to fulfil my dream. It's not the time to talk about this, but I also can't hide it. I try to be an honest person.”
And now, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Alvarez has reportedly made it clear to the Atletico hierarchy that he has no intention of changing his mind, such is his desire to join Barcelona.
Sandro Tonali offer
Arsenal were reportedly offered the chance to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali last week, but a summer move to the Emirates Stadium currently seems unlikely.
The Italy international has been on Arsenal’s transfer radar for several months, as reported by FootballTransfers, with Mikel Arteta’s side eager to bolster their midfield ranks before the start of next season, despite Myles Lewis-Skelly’s recent emergence in the middle of the park.
However, a deal for Tonali is currently unlikely to be finalised, due to his wage demands of £250,000 per week and the fact his agent would be owed a 10% cut of the transfer fee. That is according to Chronicle Live, who report that Tonali’s agency GR Sports offered his services to Arsenal last week.
Ayyoub Bouaddi asking price
Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Manchester United are all interested in signing Morocco international Ayyoub Bouaddi this summer and Lille have now set their asking price.
RMC Sport reporter Fabrice Hawkins states that Lille want to agree a sale for between €80-100 million, although they want Bouaddi to return to the club on a one-year loan deal before officially departing.
Bouaddi has starred at the World Cup for Morocco and Arsenal have earmarked him as a possible alternative to Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes.
Youngster to leave
Arsenal academy starlet Mishel Nduka is set to leave the club this summer, as per The Secret Scout.
The 16-year-old joined the Gunners from Charlton Athletic last summer, but he is already set to depart, with multiple top Premier League clubs having watched him over the past few months.
