Gabriel Jesus has admitted he ‘thinks about a return to Palmeiras every day’ amid speculation that Arsenal could look to cash in on the forward this summer.

Jesus has seen his first team minutes drastically decline since his €52 million move from Manchester City in 2022, with a combination of injuries and the natural evolution of Mikel Arteta’s squad turning the Brazilian into a fringe player this season.

With his contract expiring next summer, an exit from Arsenal could be a real possibility this summer and Jesus has made no secret over a return to Palmeiras, having spent time with his boyhood club over the international break in order to aid his fitness.

Jesus revealed last week that the ‘doors were always open’ to re-joining Palmeiras and he has since opened up further about his ‘dream’ of playing for the club again.

"I follow it quite closely. My bond with Palmeiras has never been broken,” Jesus said in an interview with RomárioTV. “Whenever I'm in Brazil, unfortunately I also have my injuries, which I receive treatment for there.

“I always follow it very closely and obviously I dream of returning to play one day, not to end my career. I think about returning every day, my wife can attest to that.”

Arsenal to explore Jesus sale this summer

Jesus has made just two Premier League starts this season, having only returned from a cruciate ligament tear in December that kept him sidelined for 11 months.

The 28-year-old was a key figure for Arsenal in his first two years with the club but most of his minutes since have come from the bench and Jesus has found himself behind the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard in the pecking order.

Arsenal are open to Jesus’ sale this summer, with Atletico Madrid among the teams believed to be interested in a move, although much will depend on the deal being offered.

The Gunners may also look to replace Jesus with a younger forward such as Christian Kofane after the Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid’s agent revealed that Arsenal were ‘in pole position’ for the €100m-rated striker.
