Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest transfer updates ahead of what he believes will be a “special summer”.

Atletico move for Ederson

Atalanta star Ederson has been a name closely linked with Manchester United in recent years, but the energetic Brazilian is set to move to Atletico Madrid, Romano reports.

“There is already an agreement in place between Atletico Madrid midfielder Ederson over a summer move,” Romano told his YouTube channel.

“Ederson is out of contract at Atalanta in summer 2027, and at the moment he is not even close to discussing a new deal with Atalanta. Atletico Madrid are on it, because they already wanted to sign Ederson in the January transfer window. They had several conversations with Atalanta to try to get Ederson and Ademola Lookman, but ended up only signing Lookman.

“Atalanta are not easy to deal with when it comes to their star players. They are really strong in these negotiations, and that is a compliment to them. They know how to keep players when they want to, and that is what happened in January with Ederson. But in the summer, it might be different.

“Atletico Madrid have an agreement in principle with Ederson and his agents over personal terms. The Brazilian is ready to make the move to La Liga. He was also a name on the list of Manchester United when Ruben Amorim was in charge, and he is now ready for this new chapter.

“Negotiations continue between Atletico Madrid and Atalanta. A direct meeting already took place last week between the two clubs to discuss the transfer fee for Ederson. They have a very good relationship, especially after what happened in January with Ademola Lookman. Also, don’t forget Matteo Ruggeri, and another connection between the clubs with Raspadori.

“Now they are talking about the transfer fee, which could be around €35-40 millio. Ederson is a top target for Atletico Madrid, and their director wants to get the deal done before the World Cup.”

Kang-in Lee on the radar

Kang-in Lee is another to be linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, but Romano warns they face competition from the Premier League, while PSG do not want to allow the player to leave either.

He explained: “The PSG winger is in a special situation. Many clubs are interested. Atletico Madrid want him for sure, and he was already a target a few months ago. He remains a target for the club’s director.

“From what I am hearing, Premier League clubs are also interested. So there is interest from both the Premier League and Atletico Madrid. The point is that Kang-in Lee remains an important player for PSG. He is not a regular starter, but he is very important in rotation.

“Also in terms of sponsorship, he is a crucial player for PSG in Asian markets. So there are many factors that can influence this move. Let’s see what PSG decide to do. At the moment, they want to stay focused on these final two months of the season and try to win the Champions League again. Kang-in Lee could be really important for them in these final months. But interest is there from Atletico and from England, so we need to follow this situation closely.”

Nicolo Tresoldi to Arsenal: Is a deal close?

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Club Brugge star Nicolo Tresoldi, who has 13 goals in 30 appearances this season.

“At the moment, I am not in a position to give any final verdict. But what I can tell you is that, according to my information, there is nothing really advanced or concrete between Arsenal and Tresoldi,” Romano said.

“The same applies to Pio Esposito. He is a talent, yes, but Arsenal are not working to sign him. They can scout him and follow him, of course, but they are not in active talks. Same for Tresoldi.

“So at the moment, Arsenal are not in active discussions for Esposito or Tresoldi. If anything changes, I will be here to update you.”

Man City offer Rodri new deal

Manchester City have shown a desire to retain Spain international midfielder Rodri and have offered him a new contract in the face of pressing interest from Real Madrid.

Romano said: “The key point is simple. Right now, Rodri has two possible paths. He can stay at Manchester City and potentially sign a new contract, or he can plan a move away from the club.

“His comments about Real Madrid were strong, obviously. Real Madrid appreciate him a lot, and internally they are discussing Rodri as an option. But at the moment, there is still no bid and no direct club-to-club talks.

“What I understand is that Rodri already has a new contract proposal on the table from Manchester City. The club are ready to offer him an important salary. Now it is up to Rodri to decide, personally and financially, with his family and with the project in mind, what he wants to do.

“He can stay at Man City and sign the new deal, or he can leave, now or in summer 2027. But one important point on Real Madrid: if Rodri does not renew, Manchester City are not going to let him go for a small fee.

“Even if he is out of contract in 2027, City would still want important money. Their position is clear. If Rodri wants to sign a new deal, they are more than happy. If he wants to stay one more season and leave for free in 2027, fine. But they would rather keep him than sell for 10, 15, or 20 million euros.

“So this is the situation. New contract on the table, Rodri to decide, City not making any big discount, and Real Madrid waiting to see what happens next.”

Ferran Torres’ future

Barcelona attacker Ferran Torres has been linked with a move to a number of clubs this summer, and with the Catalan side potentially open to selling, what’s his status?

“My understanding is that Barcelona would be open to discussing terms if a club arrived with a serious proposal for Ferran Torres in the summer. That does not mean Barcelona are actively trying to sell him. They are not,” Romano said.

“What is happening is that if a club comes with an important proposal, Ferran could be one of the candidates for sale. So yes, it is a possibility. But do not forget that Ferran is very happy at Barcelona.

“So it would need either a very strong technical proposal or a very strong financial proposal, and it would also need to make sense for the player. He is not out of the project at this stage, but everything depends on proposals.”
