Man Utd Transfer News Today: McTominay talks accelerate as shock signing possible
All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Scott McTominay, Andrey Santos and Andre Onana.
McTominay to stay at Napoli
Discussions between Scott McTominay and Napoli over a new contract are set to accelerate this month, according to Calciomercato.
The Scotland international has been tentatively linked with a potential return to Man Utd, but a move is unlikely to materialise this summer. The most realistic scenario is that he signs a new deal.
Napoli want to reward McTominay with a pay increase after the 29-year-old was voted last season's Player of the Year as the Serie A giants won the Scudetto. He has already announced that he is not planning to leave.
Santos signing possible
Man Utd could reignite their interest in Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos this summer, according to Ben Jacobs.
The Red Devils explored a deal for the Brazil international during discussions with Chelsea for Alejandro Garnacho last summer, but the London club made it clear that he was not for sale.
That stance has not changed, and Santos has become a regular under Liam Rosenior, but his future could once again become a topic of discussion if Chelsea opt to sign a new midfielder this summer.
Ancelotti, Tuchel not coaching options
Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti and England manager Thomas Tuchel are not under consideration for the permanent Man Utd coaching job, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Tuchel, who was previously an option for the job, has only recently signed a new contract with the FA and is not planning to leave his role in charge of the Three Lions anytime soon.
Ancelotti, though he has a long-standing affinity for Man Utd, is believed to be on the verge of signing fresh terms with the Brazilian federation until the 2030 World Cup.
Van der Sarr rates Onana
Man Utd legend Edwin van der Sar believes that out-of-favour goalkeeper Andre Onana is world-class, as he revealed in an interview with ESPN.
Asked to rank the world's best goalkeepers, Van der Sar put the Cameroon international in the world-class category ahead of other notable players such as Mike Maignan, Jan Oblak and Jordan Pickford.
However, Onana is likely to be sold by Man Utd this summer when he returns from his loan spell at Trabzonspor. The Turkish side will not make his deal permanent as he wants to return to a top European league, and Man Utd are demanding as much as €50m.
