Jurgen Klopp ‘in talks’ over Madrid move: Agent responds to speculation
Jurgen Klopp continues to be linked with a move back to the dugout, with the former Liverpool boss reportedly ‘in talks’ over a move to Madrid – where Atletico are hoping to beat Real to his signature.
Klopp was appointed Red Bull’s head of global soccer following his decision to step down as Anfield boss after close to a decade on Merseyside.
However, reports claim that he is missing the thrill of being in the dugout and could well make a return to management by the start of next season.
Atletico Madrid in ‘advanced talks’ with Klopp
Real Madrid have most closely been associated with the German. It has even been claimed in Spain that he has made transfer demands from Los Blancos worth around €200 million.
While Klopp has also been linked with a potential move into international management with Germany, the latest indications from Spain are that Atletico Madrid are eyeing him as a replacement for Simeone.
El Chiringuito claims that Klopp is in advanced negotiations with Los Colchoneros.
Klopp agent: He’s very happy at Red Bull
The agent of the 58-year-old has now stepped in to try to quell speculation that the former Liverpool and Dortmund boss will be heading to Madrid imminently.
“There is no need to answer questions about matters that are just rumours. Nobody has contacted us at this time,” Mark Kosicke said.
“Jurgen Klopp is very happy with his current role at Red Bull, and what is being said about negotiations to coach Real Madrid are just rumours for now."
Red Bull deny Klopp exit rumours
Kosicke’s words mirror those of Red Bull CEO Oliver Mintzlaff, who previously tried to shut down claims that Klopp might leave the organisation.
“This is complete nonsense and completely plucked out of thin air,” Mintzlaff said. “On the contrary, we are extremely satisfied with the work Jurgen Klopp is doing.
“He invests a great deal of time and effort, he is in constant communication with our coaches and sporting directors, and continues to develop our Red Bull football philosophy in a sustainable way.
“We are convinced that he is the right man for this job. That is where we are putting all our focus and energy.”
