Fabrizio Romano transfer news: Man Utd manager latest, Klopp rumours, Griezmann moving to MLS
Several developments across the market involve MLS interest in a major Atletico Madrid star, clarification around Andres Iniesta’s future, and multiple managerial rumours being addressed.
Jesse Lingard officially joins Corinthians
Former Manchester United star Jesse Lingard has completed his unexpected move to Brazil.
“Jesse Lingard to Corinthians is now official,” Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his YouTube channel.
“The former Manchester United and West Ham player joins the Brazilian club on a one-year contract with an option for a further year.
“Lingard will wear the number 77 shirt and is ready to start this new chapter of his career in Brazil.”
Orlando City ready to wait for Antoine Griezmann
Atletico Madrid ace Antoine Griezmann is heading to MLS – but he won’t move until the summer.
“Orlando City want to sign Antoine Griezmann and they have been working on this deal for weeks,” Romano said.
“The initial plan from Orlando City was to bring the player immediately, before the end of the MLS March transfer window.
“The club’s director travelled to Madrid several times to discuss the move and try to make it happen as soon as possible.
“But Atletico Madrid reached the Copa del Rey final, and because of that they want to keep Griezmann until the end of the season.
“So now there are two possibilities. One is for Griezmann to say he wants to leave immediately, but he has not told Atletico that.
“The second option is a move in the summer, and Orlando City are now prepared to wait for the summer transfer window.
“The understanding is that Atletico would allow Griezmann to leave without a transfer fee in the summer.”
Andres Iniesta not agreed with Morocco
Will Andres Iniesta complete his shock move to Morocco, where he would become a key figure for the national team? Romano says there are no guarantees as things stand.
“There have been several reports about Andres Iniesta becoming the new technical director for Morocco,” Romano said.
“But at the moment there is no agreement between Iniesta and the Moroccan federation.
“There have been contacts and there is interest, but nothing has been finalised.
“So as of today there is no deal and nothing agreed for Iniesta to take that position.”
Jurgen Klopp rumours denied by his camp
Once again, Jurgen Klopp’s camp have played down the prospect of the former Liverpool manager leaving Red Bull and returning to the dugout.
“There have been many rumours about Jurgen Klopp, especially links with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid,” Romano confirmed.
“But Klopp’s agent has denied these reports.
“He said the rumours about Klopp being close to coaching Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid or any national team are just speculation.
“No one has contacted us so far and Klopp is very happy with his role at Red Bull.
“So at the moment Klopp is not negotiating with any club.”
Inter deny Simeone reports
With speculation building over the future of Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone, Inter Milan have denied that his next move will be to San Siro.
“There were also reports in Spain about Diego Simeone joining Inter in the summer,” Romano added.
“But Inter president Giuseppe Marotta has denied those rumours.
“There is no agreement, no pre-contract and nothing signed between Simeone and Inter.
“The club remain very happy with their current coach, Cristian Chivu.”
Tuchel and Ancelotti not options for Manchester United
And finally, the race to become Manchester United’s next manager continues.
“There have also been questions about Thomas Tuchel and Carlo Ancelotti potentially becoming the next Manchester United manager,” Romano said.
“But Tuchel recently signed a new contract with England and is fully focused on that project until 2028. So at the moment there are no discussions between Manchester United and Tuchel.
“Meanwhile, Ancelotti is in advanced talks to extend his deal with Brazil until the 2030 World Cup. So there are no contacts between Manchester United and Ancelotti either.”
