Man Utd exit stance: How Bruno Fernandes really feels about Saudi transfer
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes continues to be linked with a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia, but there is no guarantee that he will be on the move this summer.
The Portugal international looks revitalised under interim head coach Michael Carrick. Although Fernandes was one of the closest allies of compatriot Ruben Amorim, there was frustration that his former boss kept playing him in a deeper midfield role.
Carrick, on the contrary, has given the 31-year-old the freedom to pull the strings further forward again - to devastating effect. In seven games under the interim coach, Fernandes has notched two goals and five assists.
He produced another standout performance against Crystal Palace on Sunday, and he is expected to play a key role for his country at this summer's World Cup in North America.
However, what happens after the tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico is shrouded in uncertainty. For years, Saudi clubs have been courting Fernandes, and he previously accused Man Utd's directors of trying to push him out of the club.
Fernandes to stay at Man Utd?
As a result, it has been thought that Fernandes could finally follow the money and head to the Middle East this summer, where he would have the opportunity to link up with compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo.
Al-Nassr were one of three Saudi clubs to show an interest last summer, and Fernandes admitted in late 2025 that he spoke to Ronaldo about a potential move to the Pro League.
However, TEAMtalk claims that the situation is far from clear-cut. The more time passes, the less likely it looks that Fernandes will leave Man Utd this summer, the report states.
The Portuguese is loving life under Carrick, while the Man Utd hierarchy is delighted with his impact. Accordingly, all parties appear to be on the same page that this working relationship needs to continue beyond this season.
Nothing will be fully decided until the two parties sit down to discuss Fernandes' future after this season, but it "increasingly" looks as though he will remain at Old Trafford, having become "pivotal" to Man Utd's current run of results as well as their planning for next season.
