Chelsea Transfer News Today: Star ‘disillusioned’ as club fight to keep academy product
All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro, and Josh Acheampong.
Cole Palmer could leave due to ‘disillusionment’ with club
Cole Palmer could be on his way out at Chelsea amid a downturn in form this season.
The player feels the club’s tactics have denied him a space on the pitch, and he reportedly misses playing with loaned-out striker Nicolas Jackson, according to The Sun.
Palmer has had a start-stop season in 2025/26, as he has missed chunks of the season due to groin injuries and a broken toe, among other issues.
Manchester United are said to be interested in a deal to bring Palmer back to his hometown, but a No. 10 is not one of the club’s priorities ahead of the summer transfer window, and the England international would certainly command a large fee.
Unlikely source sparks Joao Pedro to Arsenal rumours
Keinan Davis has suggested that Joao Pedro would be a good fit at Arsenal, according to TalkSport.
Davis, who is having a career-best season with 10 goals in 28 appearances for Udinese in Italy, played with Pedro 25 times while on loan at Watford in 2022/23.
“You’re gonna see in training his quality,” Davis said of Pedro. “Even playing with him, he’s Brazilian, so he’s just got that flair and belief in himself that he knows he’s a very good player.”
Pedro is Chelsea’s top goalscorer in the Premier League with 14 goals, which is five more than the second-top scorer, Palmer, who has nine.
The summer signing from Brighton recently had a hat trick and provided an assist in Chelsea’s 4-1 league win over Aston Villa on 4 March, and his versatility could be attractive to Mikel Arteta’s side.
Defender targeted by Newcastle as Livramento replacement
Josh Acheampong is being targeted by Newcastle United in case current Magpies right-back Tino Livramento leaves this summer, according to Football Insider.
Chelsea are said to be unwilling to sell their academy product, who has played 572 minutes in the Premier League this season.
Much of Newcastle’s outlook for summer spending depends on whether they qualify for European competition, while Chelsea likely do not need to sell.
Acheampong, a 19-year-old who can play centre-back and right-back, has filled in admirably when Reece James and Malo Gusto have been injured this season.
