Arsenal offered chance to sign Havertz upgrade as 'point of no return' reached
Contract negotiations between PSG and Senny Mayulu have reached a "point of no return," which has surely put Arsenal and other potential suitors on alert.
The 19-year-old already has 74 senior appearances for the Ligue 1 champions to his name, but his future increasingly looks to be outside of the French capital.
Mayulu is out of contract in 2027, and negotiations with PSG have been tedious and unsuccessful. Reports of a sizeable gulf in expectations emerged last month, with the situation only getting worse since.
PSG are said to be reluctant to agree to Mayulu's sizeable wage demands, which has plunged his future at the club into serious doubt. The reigning European champions showed last year during the Gianluigi Donnarumma saga that they will not allow valuable assets to leave for free.
As a result, Mayulu could be sold this summer. This is a scenario that is becoming more and more realistic, according to Le Parisien journalist Dominique Severac.
Mayulu talks have reached point of no return
Asked about the Mayulu situation by PSG fans during a Q&A session, Severac revealed that the teenager has rejected three contract offers from the French giants.
"From experience, PSG can accept one counteroffer, but not two," the journalist explained. "That is what is provoking his exit at the end of the season. The club don’t appreciate that he has rejected three offers. The point of no return has seemingly been reached."
Mayulu's ostensibly impending exit will surely have put clubs around Europe on red alert. Recently, it was claimed that Arsenal and Chelsea were ready to battle over the versatile youngster's signature.
This came after FootballTransfers reported that Mayulu could be a shrewd signing for the Gunners. Using data from analytics firm SciSports, we explained that the Frenchman would be a good stylistic fit for Mikel Arteta's side.
Moreover, with doubts emerging over Kai Havertz's future amid reports that Arsenal may have to cash in on players this summer, we compared the two players, with Mayulu likely to become a better player in the future if he fulfils his eminent potential.
The two also profile similarly due to their versatility. Mayulu is more of an attacker by trade, but he has often been used in midfield at PSG in recent times. Like Havertz, he can play seemingly everywhere in midfield and in the attack.
