Nottingham Forest agree deal to sign Luca Netz - David Ornstein
Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal with Borussia Monchengladbach for Luca Netz, according to David Ornstein.
The 22-year-old full-back is on his way to the City Ground after falling out of favour at Gladbach. Two seasons ago, Netz was the talk of the town and linked with Premier League giants like Chelsea.
However, the emergence of Lukas Ullrich saw Netz lose his guaranteed starting spot last season, and the two have been sharing the left-back role this term. A late-window departure of the 22-year-old was therefore fully expected.
Reports from various outlets in Germany revealed that an unnamed Premier League club were on the verge of striking a deal for the Germany youth international. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the club in question is Nottingham Forest.
The Reds have agreed to pay a guaranteed fee of €2.5 million, which includes add-ons. Netz is already thought to be on-site to formally complete his transfer before the deadline.
Forest sign Zinchenko replacement
Netz will replace Oleksandr Zinchenko at Forest following the departure of Oleksandr Zinchenko. The Ukraine international had his loan from Arsenal cut short after failing to nail down a starting spot.
Zinchenko has instead moved to Eredivisie giants Ajax on a permanent deal. Netz will compete with Neco Williams and Cuibano for the left-back position at Forest.
The 22-year-old is set to sign a long-term contract at the City Ground, while Gladbach will retain a sell-on percentage. He could prove to be a smart acquisition for Sean Dyche's side.
Netz prefers to play on the front foot and get involved in the attack. He notched 18 assists in 124 appearances for Gladbach and was irresistible in the 2023/24 season. If he can recapture that form, €2.5m will look a bargain fee.
