Maresca offered SHOCK return to management after Chelsea exit
Enzo Maresca could be offered a shock quick return to management after leaving Chelsea this month.
Maresca ended an 18-month stint at Stamford Bridge on New Years’ Day after falling out with Chelsea’s board, with the club quickly replacing him with Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior.
Tensions had begun to grow with Maresca and Chelsea amid reports that Manchester City <b>had listed their former academy coach as a potential successor to Pep Guardiola.
But another one of Maresca’s former clubs are now believed to have made an approach for the Italian, with The Mirror claiming that contact his been made over a shock return to the King Power Stadium.
Maresca spent one year at Leicester in the Championship and got them promoted to the Premier League before joining Chelsea and the Foxes are looking for a new coach after sacking Marti Cifuentes this week.
With Leicester sitting 14th in the Championship, they are believed to have offered Maresca a lucrative short-term contract until the end of the season, knowing that the 45-year-old will likely have his choice of bigger clubs come the summer.
Maresca set to be in-demand during summer after positive Chelsea tenure
Having lifted the Europa Conference League and the Club World Cup with Chelsea, as well as finishing fourth in his one full season at Stamford Bridge, Maresca still remains highly-rated despite his controversial exit from the Blues.
City are still believed to hold Maresca in high regard, while teams in Italy are also hoping to convince him to move to the Serie A next season.
Chelsea had remained relatively satisfied with Maresca’s on-the-pitch results during his time at the club and his departure only came due to a bust up with the club’s medical team, among other disagreements.
It remains to be seen whether Leicester can pull off a coup in bringing Maresca back to the club, with the hope that they can still secure a play-off spot in the Championship this season.
