Everton have officially completed the signing of Chelsea youngster Tyrique George.

The 19-year-old has completed a loan move to Merseyside after struggling for minutes at Chelsea. George was expected to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer, but a proposed transfer to Fulham failed to materialise.

That left him stuck at Chelsea, where he has only made 11 appearances this season, scoring three goals and providing one assist. As a result, a mid-season departure was inevitable.

Everton have won the race for the talented and versatile attacker. George joins David Moyes' side in the wake of Jack Grealish suffering a potentially season-ending injury that has left his World Cup hopes in the balance.

The wonderkid will initially arrive on loan, but the Toffees have the option of making his stay permanent. The exact value of this clause is not known, but Sky Sports has described it as "very significant."

George will fill the hole left by Grealish, but the young attacker can also feature in a more central attacking role, therefore giving Moyes some excellent tactical flexibility.

Although he struggled for minutes, George was rated highly by Chelsea, and Liam Rosenior spoke glowingly of the teenager after he joined the club, describing him as "a player of immense potential.”

“We are pleased to have signed Tyrique on loan from Chelsea for the remainder of the season," Moyes said after the deal was announced.

“Tyrique is a versatile forward who can play all across the front line. I hope he will settle quickly into our squad, and the support from our fans will definitely help him feel at home. We are looking forward to working with him.”

The youngster said: "I’m really excited to be here and to enjoy this massive club. I just can’t wait to get started.

"The fans here are exceptional. I know Evertonians are really passionate. They like hard work - and that’s what I’m going to show. I want to be exciting and I want to impress them.

"The gaffer, David Moyes, was another reason [I wanted to join]. He’s an amazing manager who has coached so many players, like Wayne Rooney, and players like that. I've had a brief conversation with him and he's an amazing person as well.

"I just want to enjoy it, learn under him and improve."
