Axel Disasi's move from Chelsea to West Ham is in the balance due to concerns over the player's willingness to join the relegation-battlers.

The Frenchman has been widely expected to leave Chelsea for the best part of a year, but Disasi remains on the books at Stamford Bridge. Although he joined Aston Villa on loan last January, the Birmingham club opted against signing him permanently.

In the summer, Disasi was determined to return to his former club Monaco, but Chelsea refused to sanction a loan, which was the only type of deal the Principality club were able to offer. As a result, he remained in the Blues' 'Bomb Squad.'

He has been reintegrated into the first team twice this season, once under Enzo Maresca and then under Liam Rosenior, but in actual fact, Disasi remains firmly out of the project.

Despite this, discussions over his departure are once again going down to the wire. AC Milan considered a move for him, and the player was keen, but the Rossoneri ultimately did not proceed with the signing.

Disasi unsure about West Ham move

This has left West Ham as seemingly the 27-year-old's only credible option, and Disasi is understood to be on-site for his medical. However, it is unclear whether the player is actually keen on the move.

When news of Disasi's medical broke, journalist Jacob Steinberg posted on X: "Medical scheduled, but West Ham are not entirely sure Disasi wants to join them."

He has now provided a small update on the situation. After initially revealing that optimism was growing over Disasi's willingness to make the move, there appears to have been a setback. "'Complicated' is the way this deal was described in the last half hour," he wrote.

While the transfer is not off yet, West Ham clearly still have a lot of convincing to do before being able to count on the versatile defender in their bid to avoid relegation.
