West Ham in talks over ambitious Arsenal and Chelsea double swoop
West Ham are exploring ambitious moves for Arsenal wonderkid Ethan Nwaneri and Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.
The Hammers are in the midst of a busy January window as they seek to stave off relegation. Nuno Espirito Santo's struggling side are currently seven points adrift of safety.
As their business so far shows, West Ham haven't yet given up on this season. They have spent €29 million on Taty Castellanos and €23m on Pablo Felipe, which in turn has made Callum Wilson surplus to requirements.
More signings are expected to come in before the end of the window, with an attacking midfielder high on Nuno's list of priorities due to the seemingly inevitable departure of Lucas Paqueta to boyhood club Flamengo.
As a result, West Ham have explored a loan move for Arsenal wonderkid Ethan Nwaneri, according to football.London. However, this approach was rebuffed and The Independent reports that the 18-year-old wants to fight for his place at the Emirates.
West Ham also interested in Jorgensen
In addition to Nwaneri, West Ham have also registered their interest in Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, according to Nizaar Kinsella. However, no offer has as yet been made.
The Hammers have not ruled out bringing another goalkeeper in due to the disastrous signing Mads Hermansen has proved to be. The East Londoners abandoned a deal for John Victor in favour of the Dane in the summer, but quickly realised their mistake.
Unfortunately, the Brazilian then snubbed West Ham to join Nottingham Forest instead. 40-year-old Lukasz Fabianski was brought back as an emergency signing, but he hasn't made a Premier League appearance yet.
Jorgensen is understood to be keen to leave Chelsea as he feels that Denmark's No.1 spot is up for grabs should they qualify for the World Cup, but the Blues don't really want to reshuffle their goalkeeper department mid-season and would only consider a permanent exit.
