Man Utd receive Victor Osimhen transfer confirmation
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has confirmed that Victor Osimhen would “100%” join the club if he receives a suitable offer this summer.
The Nigeria international was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford last year, however he eventually opted to complete a permanent transfer to Galatasaray following a successful season-long loan stint with the Turkish giants.
Chelsea and Man Utd were both interested in securing Osimhen’s signature during the 2025 summer transfer window, however neither club were willing to match his lofty wage demands and they ultimately decided against agreeing a deal.
Chelsea subsequently landed Liam Delap and Joao Pedro to bolster their striker ranks, while Man Utd completed the signing of RB Leipzig centre forward Benjamin Sesko for a fee of €76.5 million.
However, Osimhen continues to be linked with a Premier League switch and Ferdinand believes that a Man Utd transfer could potentially be on the cards in 2026.
Victor Osimhen to join Man Utd?
During an interview with Ferdinand, former Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan was asked to name his favourite centre forward in world football. “Victor Osimhen,” he replied.
“He loves scoring goals, he plays with his heart, and gives everything. I like this kind of striker. I’m surprised big clubs didn’t go for him in this transfer window.
“Hopefully, I’m feeling Manchester United too, only if he wants to come because of their history and everything.”
In response, Ferdinand said: “Osimhen will come to United, if United offer to take Osimhen, he would go, 100%.”
The 27-year-old has scored 12 goals in 16 games for Galatasaray so far this season, while he found the back of the net on four occasions in six matches for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations.
However, Osimhen’s current contract at Galatasaray isn’t due to expire until 2029, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €76.9m.
