One player every Premier League club could sign before Transfer Deadline Day
The January transfer window is nearly over, but several late deals are expected to be finalised before the end of Deadline Day on 2 February.
While the majority of Premier League clubs have been reluctant to spend big this month due to financial concerns, a number of transfers are still expected to be completed over the next week.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through one player that each Premier League club could sign before the end of the January window.
Arsenal - Igor Tyjon (Blackburn)
Arsenal spent big last summer and they are therefore incredibly unlikely to bolster the first-team available to Mikel Arteta, despite their bid to win the Premier League title for the first time since 2004.
Blackburn Rovers youngster Igor Tyjon is still on their radar, however, and a January transfer can’t be ruled out after he opted to reject the chance to sign a new deal at Ewood Park.
Aston Villa - Tammy Abraham (Besiktas, on loan from Roma)
Aston Villa are closing in on a deal for former fan favourite Tammy Abraham, who is currently excelling on loan at Besiktas from Serie A giants AS Roma.
The ex-England international bagged 26 goals in 40 games for Villa during a loan spell in the 2018-19 season and he is now on the verge of completing a permanent move to Unai Emery’s side for just over €20 million.
Bournemouth - Rayan (Vasco da Gama)
Bournemouth have officially reached a full agreement to sign Vasco da Gama wonderkid Rayan for €28.5m, plus add-ons.
The 19-year-old forward has travelled to England to undergo a medical and the transfer is expected to be announced shortly. His arrival will follow the departure of star attacker Antoine Semenyo, who joined Manchester City earlier this month.
Brentford - Iago Teodoro (Flamengo)
Brentford have already completed the signing of 18-year-old Club Brugge forward Kaye Furo and they are probably the Premier League club who are least likely to dip back into the market before Deadline Day.
The Bees very rarely do business in January and they therefore aren’t expected to sign anyone else over the next week. However, reports in Brazil have speculated that Keith Andrews’ side have submitted an opening bid to sign Flamengo youngster Iago Teodoro.
Brighton - Micah Mbick (Charlton)
Exits are far more likely than incomings at Brighton, with Diego Coppola, Tommy Watson and Jeremy Sarmiento all potentially set to leave the Seagulls.
But, it has been claimed that Brighton could be set to launch a third bid for Charlton Athletic striker Micah Mbick, who is currently on loan at Colchester United, having seen their opening two offers rejected.
Burnley - James Ward-Prowse (West Ham)
James Ward-Prowse has emerged as a key transfer target for Burnley, who are in talks over a late January deal for the West Ham United outcast.
Rumours have suggested that an agreement may not be finalised before Deadline Day, but a deal could still be on the cards as he hasn't featured for West Ham since the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo.
Chelsea - Douglas Luiz (Nottingham Forest, on loan from Juventus)
Injuries to Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo have forced Chelsea to pursue a new central midfielder and they are in talks with Juventus over a six-month loan deal for Douglas Luiz, who is currently at Nottingham Forest on a temporary basis.
The Blues have also been in advanced negotiations with Stade Rennais for Jeremy Jacquet, but a deal looks increasingly unlikely following their decision to recall Aaron Anselmino from Borussia Dortmund.
Crystal Palace - Sidiki Cherif (Angers)
Crystal Palace are in trouble after losing Marc Guehi to Man City and Oliver Glasner confirming that he will depart the club this summer.
With Jean-Philippe Mateta and Adam Wharton potentially set to leave later this year too, they need reinforcements and they have identified Angers winger Sadiki Cherif as a key target. However, Wrexham are also interested and could reportedly make him the most expensive player in Championship history.
Everton - Youssef En-Nesyri (Fenerbahce)
Everton have submitted an enquiry for Fenerbahce striker Youssef En-Nesyri in a bid to finally secure the services of the Morocco international.
En-Nesyri has been linked with a move to the Toffees on a number of occasions in recent years and David Moyes’ side are now keen to finalise an agreement amid rumours that Beto could depart.
Fulham - Ricardo Pepi (PSV)
Fulham are in the market for a new striker before the window shuts and they have earmarked PSV Eindhoven’s Ricardo Pepi as their top target.
Marci Silva’s side have launched a fresh bid worth over €32m and they are hopeful of agreeing a deal before Deadline Day. Man City’s Oscar Bobb is also in talks over a winter move to Craven Cottage.
Leeds - Jorgen Strand Larsen (Wolves)
Despite the form of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Leeds still want to sign a new centre forward and they have seen an opening bid rejected for Wolverhampton Wanderers frontman Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Wolves remain reluctant to sell the Norway international, but Leeds are reportedly still eager to finalise a deal despite the fact Strand Larsen has only scored one Premier League goal this term.
Liverpool - Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace)
After missing out on Marc Guehi to Man City, Liverpool aren’t expected to be active in the transfer market before Deadline Day, despite their lack of depth in defensive positions.
However, reports have suggested that Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton is edging closer to an Anfield switch, although a deal is likely to occur this summer rather than this week.
Man City - Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest)
Man City have already splashed €85m on Antoine Semenyo and the aforementioned Guehi this month, meaning they are incredibly unlikely to dip back into the market before Deadline Day.
They do, however, hold strong interest in Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson and while a deal is far more than likely to be agreed this summer, it could feasibly be brought forward amid Rodri’s poor recent form.
Man Utd - Christos Mouzakitis (Olympiacos)
The Michael Carrick era at Man Utd has started off fantastically with impressive wins over Man City and Arsenal, and he will be looking to guide the club back into the Champions League this season.
A busy summer window means the Red Devils haven’t been heavily linked with anyone in January, although they are keeping close tabs on Olympiacos wonderkid Christos Mouzakitis.
Newcastle - Brooke Norton-Cuffy (Genoa)
Newcastle are locked in a transfer battle to sign Genoa right-back Brooke Norton-Cuffy, who left Arsenal on a permanent deal to join the Serie A outfit in 2024.
The England U21 international is also wanted by Everton, although Eddie Howe’s side have accelerated their pursuit of his signature as they chase a long-term replacement for Kieran Trippier.
Nottingham Forest - Kostas Tsimikas (Roma, on loan from Liverpool)
Nottingham Forest loanee Oleksandr Zinchenko is in advanced talks to return to Arsenal before completing a permanent move to Ajax and Sean Dyche’s are therefore in the market for a replacement.
Kostas Tsimikas has reportedly been identified as a possible target, although he could be recalled from a loan spell at Roma by Liverpool if Andrew Robertson leaves Anfield.
Sunderland - Lamine Camara (Monaco)
Sunderland are unlikely to strengthen their first-team squad this month, with the club instead expected to sanction a number of late departures. However, AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara is reportedly on their transfer radar.
Regis Le Bris’ side were very interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Jonas Omlin on loan as a replacement for Anthony Patterson, who is wanted by Millwall, but he has now joined Bayer Leverkusen instead.
Tottenham - Andrew Robertson (Liverpool)
Tottenham are in talks to sign Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson, but reports in recent days have suggested that a winter transfer now looks unlikely.
However, an agreement could still be reached, with Spurs willing to pay a small fee to land the Scotland international now, rather than acquire him on a Bosman deal when his Liverpool contract expires at the end of June.
West Ham - Adama Traore (Fulham)
Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to be reunited with his former Wolves pupil Adama Traore and it has been reported that an agreement has been reached for a winter transfer to go through.
The Spaniard is yet to accept a move to east London, however he is close to leaving Fulham and he is expected to become a West Ham player before the end of Deadline Day.
Wolves - Kalvin Phillips (Man City)
Despite a recent resurgence under new boss Rob Edwards, Wolves are destined to return to the Championship after an eight-year stay in the Premier League and they are currently unlikely to splash any money on new signings.
However, they have recently been linked with Kalvin Phillips and the Man City outcast could be available this week after falling completely out of favour under Pep Guardiola.
