Another Dutchman appears to be on his way to Liverpool in the shape of Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven.

The 24-year-old centre-back is a key target for Arne Slot and his club. Van de Ven is expected to become the next Dutchman at Anfield, following Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch, Jeremie Frimpong, and Virgil van Dijk.

Tottenham are backed into a corner, according to major news from the Daily Mail. Van de Ven has so far refused to extend his contract in London, prompting Spurs to consider a move for the left-footed defender. The club knows that this coming summer is the ideal time to land a premium fee for him.

Van de Ven joined Tottenham from VfL Wolfsburg in 2023 for €40 million and now appears poised to earn Tottenham a significant profit. The defender, who has already made 29 appearances this season, currently has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €61.1 million.

This makes him the third-most-valuable player in Thomas Frank's squad after Mohammed Kudus (€65.5m) and Xavi Simons (€79m). Van de Ven is seventh on the list of most expensive Dutch players. At number one? His potential new colleague, Ryan Gravenberch, with an ETV of €98.7m.

Ready for a new step

The Tottenham defender has a contract in London that runs until 2029. Despite this, Spurs wanted to reward Van de Ven with an improved deal. However, he declined this offer, hoping to make a move next summer.

After playing nearly a hundred matches for Tottenham, the defender wants to move to a club that's regularly competing for silverware. Arne Slot's Liverpool are currently in the best position to land him.

The Reds are having a disastrous season by their standards and are particularly vulnerable at the back. Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk's partner at centre-back, is out of contract in the summer.

The arrival of a new centre-back is therefore an absolute must at Anfield. Liverpool have spent €482.9m on new players this season, but they will not be afraid to spend again next summer.

Intriguingly, if Van de Ven does indeed leave Hotspur for Liverpool next summer, Dutch minnows FC Volendam will be in line for a significant windfall. Van de Ven played for years in the club's youth academy and made his professional debut there.

After 48 senior matches, Van de Ven transferred to Wolfsburg for €8.5m. If Van de Ven leaves for Liverpool next summer for his ETV of €61.1m, Volendam would stand to receive around €1.98m.
