Chelsea are among the clubs interested in wantaway Barcelona youngster Dro Fernandez, according to a report.

Earlier on Friday, reports emerged out of Spain that the 18-year-old has informed Barcelona of his desire to leave the club this month. Although Fernandez has made five first-team appearances, he hasn't featured for Hansi Flick's side since early December.

Dro told Flick on Friday morning that numerous clubs are willing to trigger his bargain €6 million release clause and that he wishes to pursue one of these opportunities, although he has yet to make a firm decision on his next destination.

Barcelona, meanwhile, recognise that Dro is one of the best talents coming out of La Masia in recent years and are still trying to convince him to change his mind. There is talk of a potential last-ditch contract offer.

It is a situation akin to Marc Guiu's exit in 2024. The young striker broke into the first team while still having a contract with a €6m release clause, and he ultimately opted to join Chelsea instead of signing fresh terms with Barcelona.

Chelsea also want Dro

Ironically - and perhaps predictably - Chelsea are now once again at the front of the queue for a Barca prospect. Ben Jacobs reports that the Blues, Man City and Borussia Dortmund are among the clubs trying to sign him. Last summer, the Londoners also tried to sign Fermin Lopez.

However, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano is not so sure that Chelsea will be able to land Dro. Speaking in his latest YouTube video, the Italian teased a "surprise" move and played down a move to England.

With the situation still developing, Romano refrained from completely ruling out a transfer to the Premier League, but his comments suggested that it would be a shock if the youngster were to end up at Chelsea or Man City.

Romano also ruled out a move within Spain, so Dortmund and other European suitors appear to have a good chance of getting the nod from the teenager. Jacobs explicitly mentioned that unnamed French clubs are also vying for his signature.
