Liam Rosenior drops Enzo Fernandez transfer hint
Liam Rosenior has hinted that Enzo Fernandez will not leave Chelsea this summer, despite significant transfer interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
The Argentina international has been tipped to leave Stamford Bridge in 2026, with several elite clubs across Europe keeping close tabs on his situation amid rumours that he may seek an exit following the Blues’ decision to part ways with Enzo Maresca.
Reports in France have confirmed that PSG are eager to finalise a deal for the 25-year-old, while Real Madrid are long-term admirers of the ex-Benfica star and are expected to battle for his signature as they search for a new central midfielder.
However, Fernandez still has six-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract at Chelsea and the west London giants have no intention of allowing him to depart the club in 2026.
The Argentina superstar has registered 12 goal contributions in 32 matches across all competitions so far this season and he is expected to play an integral role under Rosenior, who has now hinted that a sale won’t be permitted as Fernandez is a key member of his first-team squad.
Enzo Fernandez transfer hint
When asked if Fernandez is a defensive midfielder, a box-to-box midfielder or an attacking midfielder, Rosenior told NBC Sports: “I love Enzo because he’s world class in all of the roles you’ve just mentioned.
“You can play him as a deep-lying six who can get on the ball and make 100 passes a game. You can play him as an eight who plays box-to-box and arrives in the box and scores goals but also protects his own box. Or you can play him as a ten, because he can connect, he can create assists and score goals. He’s just a magnificent footballer.
“He gives me tactical flexibility for each game, against different opposition. My job is to find what functions around him the best so the team functions with him in the very best way.”
