Excluding absences through injury, the former Benfica midfielder has started 95 out of a possible 102 Premier League matches since his arrival in west London, while his tally of 23 goal contributions in 2025 was the most of any Chelsea player during the entire calendar year.

But, Fernandez has been heavily linked with a Stamford Bridge exit ever since his move to Chelsea, with Real Madrid continuously tipped to pursue a move amid their pursuit of a new central midfielder.

Los Blancos have earmarked the Argentine as a dream transfer target and reports speculate that he remains on their radar ahead of a possible move in 2026.

However, the Spanish outfit are set to face significant competition for Fernandez’s signature as PSG have now added him to their transfer shortlist, as per a bombshell report from French publication L’Equipe.

Enzo Fernandez to join PSG?

It’s reported that PSG are unlikely to be particularly active in the market before the winter transfer window closes on 2 February, however Luis Enrique’s side are understood to be keeping close tabs on Fernandez’s situation ahead of this summer.

The 24-year-old’s current contract at Chelsea isn’t due to expire until 2032, but he is reportedly now questioning his long-term future at the club following the departure of Enzo Maresca on New Year’s Day.

The Italian departed Stamford Bridge by mutual consent after a bust-up with the club’s hierarchy and Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior was appointed as his permanent replacement on 6 January.

It’s understood that Fernandez had a close relationship with Maresca and his exit has left the midfielder questioning his future in west London.

The Blues have failed to challenge for the Premier League title during Fernandez’s time at the club, despite over €1.5 billion being spent on new signings under new owners Clearlake Capital, and the World Cup winner is now reportedly open to an exit this year.
