Man Utd’s €66m Bruno Fernandes FEAR as fate of five stars revealed
Manchester United believe that Bruno Fernandes will leave the club in the summer having “had enough” of life at Old Trafford, a blistering report claims.
Ruben Amorim’s departure as Man Utd boss is set to bring about a wave of changes at the club, and among those could be the departure of Portuguese playmaker Bruno, who previously revealed he was close to moving to the Saudi Pro League last summer.
The 31-year-old was talked out of leaving the Red Devils by his wife, but United fear there will be no such reprieve this time around, with The i Paper reporting there is a “general fear” around the club that the No.10 will depart.
Bruno Fernandes to leave Man Utd?
Man Utd believe that Bruno will seek a transfer in the wake of Amorim’s departure as the player had a strong relationship with his compatriot. His appetite to continue under an interim and then permanent manager at Old Trafford is questionable.
Under contract until 2027, United are eager that their captain remains, with the veteran held in high esteem by everyone around the club for his professionalism both on and off the field.
Crucially, he is reported to have a release clause worth €66 million (£57m) that can be triggered by clubs outside of England.
Cristiano Ronaldo talks
Bruno Fernandes admitted that he spoke to Cristiano Ronaldo about leaving for the Saudi Pro League last summer.
He told The i Paper in October: “I wouldn’t say what he told me, but we spoke about it. Obviously, he now has a manager that also spoke with me at the time, Jorge Jesus.
“I wasn’t eager to go to Saudi because I wanted to stay. Cristiano had his opinion on what I should do. It was important for me, with all the experience he has, to hear what he thought. But obviously the decision will always be down to me and the club.”
Interest from Saudi is likely to resurface ahead of the summer, especially if it becomes clear Bruno wants a new challenge, while Bayern Munich are also credited with an interest in the player.
Should the report of Bruno’s release clause prove accurate, this would open the door to a departure, although with the player having an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €38m, Bayern in particular may seek to negotiate directly with the club.
Future of four stars decided
Bruno is not the only Man Utd star who is set to move on next summer, with Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho also set to leave Old Trafford.
On the other hand, Kobbie Mainoo and Andre Onana are both keen to fight for their spot at the club, with sources claiming that the latter holding out hope for a coach who wants a ball-playing keeper.
