Celtic must shatter transfer record to hijack Rangers signing

Celtic and Rangers have been told that it would require a record fee to sign BK Hacken midfielder Silas Andersen this month.
The Denmark youth international has been attracting the attention of various clubs after an impressive 2025. Andersen joined Hacken for a - by their standards - sizeable €1 million last January and quickly became a key player.
The 21-year-old made 45 appearances in 2025, notching a respectable five goals and three assists from his central midfield position. Towards the end of last year, it was revealed that Arsenal had been scouting him.

However, rather than the Gunners, it is Celtic and Rangers who are now being associated with him. Last week, it was claimed that the Ibrox club had surged past their Glasgow rivals in the race to sign Andersen.
Since then, though, not much appears to have happened on that front. Instead of Andersen, Rangers ended up completing a deal for his compatriot Tochi Chukwuani from Sturm Graz.
Andersen to command a record fee
This leaves Celtic in a strong position to acquire Andersen, although it seems their current priority is signing an attacker after pulling out of the deal to bring Jocelin Ta Bi to Parkhead from Maccabi Netanya. Talks with two alternatives have started.
As for Hacken, they certainly won't make life easy for Andersen's suitors. Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, sporting director Martin Ericsson responded in the affirmative when asked if it would require a club-record fee to sign the Dane.
This means that Celtic or Rangers will have to pay more than the €7.25 million Gent shelled out on Momodou Lamin Sonko in 2024. Ericsson insists that there have been no concrete offers for Andersen so far.
"Our ambition is for him to stay with us," Ericsson explained. "But we also know that there may be offers for young, very talented players that will result in a transfer.
"We'll see [on the fee], but everyone understands that we hold Silas in high regard. He himself, if he's going to leave, also wants to leave for something really good."
