The Brazil international suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in January 2025, but he has now featured in each of Arsenal’s last 12 matches across all competitions and is ready to compete with Viktor Gyokeres for a starting berth up front.

Jesus has appeared as a substitute in seven consecutive Premier League games, however he will be pushing for a place in the starting XI versus Manchester United on Sunday after netting a brace against Inter Milan in the Champions League in midweek.

The 28-year-old’s current deal at the Emirates Stadium is due to expire in 2027 and it has been widely reported that Arsenal will consider a sale this summer amid significant interest from his former club Palmeiras.

However, Spanish publication Fichajes state that Arsenal are now set to offer Jesus a one-year contract extension as a reward for his recent form.

Gabriel Jesus wants to stay at Arsenal

Jesus, who joined Arsenal for just over €50 million, has already admitted that he wants to extend his current contract at the club, despite rumours that he could secure a return to Brazil later this year.

“My first target is to be healthy,” the Gunners striker admitted to reporters before his side’s 3-1 victory over Inter on Tuesday.

“This is my fourth season at Arsenal and unfortunately I played maybe one and a half, two [fit] and then the rest with injuries.

“That happens. Never happened with me before but happened here. I don't know why and I don't ask myself anymore. I just try to be fit.

“Like I said before, my wish is to stay at Arsenal. And then I have a contract as well. I want to extend my contract, I want to stay, I want to win trophies with Arsenal because I came here with the purpose.

“That's it. But sometimes the reality is different. Like I said, my focus now is to stay healthy and then win trophies with Arsenal.”
