Man Utd eye bargain January deal for star who 'dreams' of Old Trafford
Manchester United's interest in Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams has been confirmed.
The Red Devils are looking to revamp their engine room in 2026, and several signings are planned. With Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte all facing uncertain futures at Old Trafford, there could be quite a bit of personnel turnover in Man Utd's midfield.
The club's priority targets are well known. The likes of Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba and Elliot Anderson top Ruben Amorim's shortlist, but there is one major concern about all three: their price.
All three are almost certain to command a fee in the region of €100 million, although Anderson reportedly has a "complicated" contract with certain mechanisms that could allow him to move for a lower fee in the summer.
Whatever the case, Man Utd have had to explore cheaper alternatives as potential contingencies as well, with Conor Gallagher, Angelo Stiller and Tyler Adams among the names under consideration.
Man Utd genuinely interested in Adams
According to the Daily Mail, Man Utd's interest in Bournemouth star Adams is genuine as he is seen as a potential "bargain" reinforcement. His price tag stands at around €46m.
The Cherries midfielder is one of the most tenacious players in the Premier League and already caught the eye of Red Devils scouts during his ill-fated stint at Leeds.
Now, Adams has revealed that playing at Old Trafford with RB Leipzig was the catalyst behind his move to the Premier League because it made him realise his "dream" of playing in England's top flight.
"I played against Manchester United at Old Trafford during Covid with RB Leipzig," he explained. "That was the first time I walked into Old Trafford and I was like, my dream is really to play in the Premier League because this is what it's about right here.
"Now being able to go back and play there multiple times and have good results, especially makes it a little bit better. So yeah, I always get excited to play against United."
Monday's clash between Man Utd and Bournemouth could be an audition of sorts for the 26-year-old. While he is not a top priority for the Red Devils, he could be a shrewd reinforcement for Amorim's inconsistent side.
