Man Utd Transfer News Today: Official talks opened as quadruple deal prepared
All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Antoine Semenyo, Said El Mala and Alex Scott.
Man Utd open El Mala talks
Man Utd have made a formal enquiry about the availability of breakout FC Koln star Said El Mala, who is in the midst of a spectacular debut season in the Bundesliga.
The 19-year-old winger was a standout performer at this summer's U21 European Championship and has carried his form over into the new season. The teenager has scored six goals and provided three assists so far.
Naturally, he is being chased by a host of clubs. Man Utd are among his most persistent suitors, but a transfer will only become a distinct possibility in the summer.
Man Utd add Scott to shortlist
Man Utd have added Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott to their shortlist of targets for 2026, and have been keeping close tabs on his performances recently.
The 22-year-old was recently called up to the England squad for the first time. He is viewed as another potential midfield target for next year, with Man Utd determined to revamp their engine room.
Scott and teammate Tyler Adams are being actively considered by the Red Devils hierarchy, potentially with a view to a January move, as they would be cheaper than the club's top targets.
Man Utd target four Bournemouth stars
Adams and Scott are far from the only Bournemouth stars Man Utd are interested in. Antoine Semenyo and Adrien Truffert are also being monitored ahead of the new year.
The former was already a target in the summer, and it was already confirmed on Tuesday that Man Utd remain firmly in the mix to sign the 25-year-old Ghana international.
The latter has now also been added to the club's shortlist, with Ruben Amorim keen to bolster his options at left wing-back. Man Utd are determined to sign proven Premier League talent in 2026, just like they did this summer.
Roma want to force Man Utd into Zirkzee deal
AS Roma are planning to agree personal terms with Joshua Zirkzee to "force Man Utd's hand" and convince them to agree to a January transfer for the Netherlands international.
Zirkzee is keen on being a regular starter and open to a move to Roma, but Man Utd are not actively looking to get rid of him, especially not before the end of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Roma are said to be ready to offer Man Utd a loan fee in excess of €6 million and want to include a purchase obligation in the deal, which would be triggered if they were to qualify for the Champions League.
Man Utd's nightmare 24 hours
INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe is facing one of the most challenging periods since taking over the club in 2024, following a nightmare 24 hours from Monday to Tuesday.
Kobbie Mainoo's brother caused a stir during the Red Devils' 4-4 draw with Bournemouth by turning up at Old Trafford in a "Free Kobbie Mainoo" shirt, and Portuguese television dropped a bombshell interview with Bruno Fernandes the following morning.
The captain claimed that club directors wanted to push him out in the summer, creating a huge headache for INEOS, who will look weak if they don't stamp out the toxicity surrounding the team.
