Man Utd locked in FIVE-WAY transfer battle over surprise January deal
Manchester United are reportedly one of five clubs interested in signing Anderlecht winger Nilson Angulo in 2026.
The Ecuador international, who joined Anderlecht from LDU Quito three years ago, has scored four goals and provided eight assists in 22 matches across all competitions so far this season, and his form has attracted significant interest from the Premier League.
Angulo, 22, signed a new four-year deal at Anderlecht in September, but he could be in line for a blockbuster transfer to England amid his impressive displays this campaign.
In fact, TEAMtalk claim that representatives from Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Leeds United, Man Utd and Tottenham Hotspur all watched him score the only goal of the game during Anderlecht’s crucial 1-0 victory over title rivals Union Saint-Gilloise on Sunday.
Angulo, who has 12 senior caps for Ecuador, is expected to be included in his nation’s squad for the 2026 World Cup and a January move is therefore in doubt, with the winger focused on ensuring he maximises his game time over the next few months.
However, a winter transfer isn’t totally out of the question and Man Utd have added him to their transfer shortlist as they consider bolstering the attacking options available to Ruben Amorim next year.
Man Utd target new attacker
In addition to Angulo, Man Utd have also earmarked Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo as a potential January signing amid his immense form so far this campaign.
The Ghana international will be available for a fee of €74 million next month, due to a release clause included in his current contract, and Man Utd are weighing up the possibility of sanctioning a mid-season deal.
However, they are set to face significant competition for his signature, with Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham also interested in signing the Bournemouth forward in 2026.
